Great ESPN article, Paul....After watching many of the "America's Game" episodes about teams from the 80's on the NFL Network, I have a much deeper appreciation for unis during that time period. Made me realize how crappy modern uniforms are (See Bengals, Buccanners, 49ers, Vikings, Dolphins, on and on). Did anyone see the Chargers wearing yellow pants? BEAUTIFUL!
This is real quick & dirty, but thought I'd see what Packers would look like with stripes on the compression shirts...and TV's moved down their Starr-era position.

I am in Louisiana and I am a bit of an LSU fan. LSU has distictive, one-of-a-kind NCAA unis, particularly the jerseys. There is absolutely NO NEED to place an "LSU" wordmark on the chest - NONE.

Except to sell more cheaply made $79.99 Nike replica jerseys, as they can not bother to produce LSU authentics

REPEAT WITH CORRECTIONS ...

ANY of the BENGALS redesigns would be an immense improvement - I favor the Charcoal/Burnt Orange design with the new helmet logo. How about the 1968 uni with a new helmet logo, and the Alternate Jersey being the UNUSED ORANGE jersey with black numerals used in the original 1968 NFL/AFL promotional materials?

AIRFORCE - a step BACKWEARD by adding the black. Last year's Silver/Gray pants and numerals, paired with the White helmet, gave them a unique, distictive, classy - even a bit military - look that would and should serve them well. Adding the Black makes them just another trendy 8th Grade team - TEN YEARS TOO LATE !!!

WYOMING - 2002 called and want their useless, over-copied piping back. What’s the point?

MIAMI, OH - Like the Bicentenniel logo, but other than that they are pretty BORING without detail or tradition. Just crack open an older yearbook, pick a good former uni, and copy that look.
How hard can it be?

When in Akron make sure to visit Skyway burgers.

That Mets "longball" shirt makes me sad. There's just nothing doing here. I made a funny (I think) photoshop image of Omar fiddling while new Shea burns which I've posted here:

http://sheahey.blogspot.com/2009/07/everybody-loves-parnell.html
Yes, Skyway is good, and they're building one right next to Akron U.'s new downtown football facility...get ready to gag...Summa Field at InfoCision Stadium. "I'm Calling It The Rubber Bowl."

Swenson's has good burgers in Akron as well.

Liked the photoshop image. My Dad's USA Today Sports Weekly did a piece about the "power outage" at the new Shea. Haven't started reading it yet.
I am an hour away from Akron. My brother used to live in Ravenna so we went to a couple games in Akron and Kent. The old Rubber Bowl was filled for an early season Kent Akron game.

As a kid my dad took me to see Massillon end Niles long win streak. I think Earle Bruce former OSU coach was coaching at Massillon at that time.

And interesting posts about the Bengals unif and some history. I always heard that Paul Brown sort of took Massillon's colors of the Bengals black and orange.

And As for Akron burgers is Swensons the place that adds brown sugar to the meat or was that Menches? I think Swensons did and they were good
For $9999 (naturally) you can go to the Gretzky fantasy camp in Phoenix

http://www.gretzky.com/blog/2008/06/waynes-new-world/

A friend on mine (who's mentioned in the article) went a couple of years ago and still can't stop talking about playing with Gretzky and finding out from Gretzky that he was going to be a dad.
How did Gretzky know your friend was going to be a dad?
It was in the article - he was away at fantasy camp, she was back home and found out they were expecting, she called down to the camp and made arrangements for Gretzky to be the one to tell him (and celebrate impending parenthood with him by drinking Dom out of the Stanley Cup).
Wow. Great story. Sorry I didn't read the article I was at work with limited time.

I found out I was going to be dad on the way home from a Red Sox fantasy camp reunion at Fenway. If only Yaz could have been the one to tell eh?

ANY of the BENGALS redesigns would be an immense improvement - I favor the Charcoal/Burnt Orange design with the new helmet logo. How about the 1968 uni with a new helmet logo, and the Alternate being the unsed ORANGE jersey with black numerals used in the original NFL.AFL promo materials?

AIRFORCE - a step BACKWEARD by ading the black. Last years Silver/Gray pants and numerals, paired with the White helmet, gave them a unique, distictive, classy - even a bit military - look that would and should serve them well. Ading the Black makes them just another trendy 8th Grade team - TEN YEARS TOO LATE !!!

WYOMING - 2002 called and want their useless, overcopied piping back. What's the point?

MIAMI, OH - Like the Bicentenniel logo, but other than that they are pretty BORING without detail or tradition. Just crack open an older yearbook, pick a good former uni, and copy that look.

How hard can it be?
