As I was watching the USA v. Brazil football (soccer) match on Sunday for the Confederations Cup, I saw Tim Howard's keeper gloves had an embroidered "TH24" on the velcro cuff. Timmy wears number 1 for the US national team, but still wears number 24 for Everton in the Premiership.
In regards to Saturday's Negro League game, Royals-Pirates...Is this the first time they have done one of these tribute games in inter-league play?
It seems a high percentage of "special" jerseys get worn during interleague play, probably because MLB is still trying to sell fans on the idea that these games are somehow different and more special than games that are actually more meaningful.
Hello, this is my first post here.

Some White Sox uniform news. According to CSN Chicago’s “Sox Drawer” blog, there is a chance that the 1959 throwbacks that the White Sox wore while playing the Dodgers may become the team’s Sunday home game uniforms for the rest of the season.

The Sox Chief Marketing Officer and the players (or at least team captain Paul Konerko) like the uniforms. The two times they have worn 1959 throwbacks (once in 2005, once this year) they have won in dramatic fashion. However, some of the White Sox players took their jersey home, so the clubhouse manager isn’t gung-ho on the idea. So nothing may ever come of it.
That's cool. I'm always amazed that when it comes to uniforms, some clubs want you to believe their budget hasn't changed since 1947. For example, Cool-flo jerseys in color, but grey or white would be too much. Seems like a weird disconnect.
Just order another 59 jersey (or 2) for the players who brought theirs home. I know there's millions of dollars flowing thru that place daily. Ask the players to bring the 59's back, and if they don't, just charge them what the club paid for them. $100 a piece? Minor issue.
If they won't spring for stirrups, why don't the White Sox fans here buy them and donate.

In regards to Saturday’s Negro League game, Royals-Pirates…Is this the first time they have done one of these tribute games in inter-league play?

It wasn't even the first time this weekend; they also wore them Friday. (Both teams wore alts Sunday afternoon, so the regular white/gray jerseys never saw the field in this series.)

The Grays and Monarchs have been represented in past years as well, possibly as early as July 2001.

But seriously, this business (thedump.com) actually advertises on the Rangers' outfield wall, and they flashed to the sign right after Josh and Tom mentioned that the grounds crew had the field looking in perfect condition even after the "dog parade" on the warning track before the game.

The Rangers announcers (Josh Lewin of Fox broadcasts and Tom Grieve, former Rangers player and GM) discussed the blue-on-blue matchup tonight. They often invite viewers to e-mail them questions during the broadcast...

Josh: Boy one e-mail theme we're definitely getting tonight is everybody is HATING this look of both teams being in blue.

Tom: Boy, I can't agree more.

Josh: It's a different shade of blue...

Tom: There should be a rule against it.

Josh: Padres are the only team on the field with the sand colored pants however. That's one way you can discern between the two tonight.

Tom: I mean, at the very least, the home team should declare their uniform, and the visitor should NOT be able to wear a dark colored jersey. They should have to wear a light colored road jersey.

Josh: I agree with you, and in the NBA when the Mavs choose to wear their home greens and they happen to be playing Boston, the Celtics, I guarantee you, would not also be wearing green.

Tom: Nope.

Unfortunately the conversation ended abruptly when Scott Hairston hit one out of the park.
