Phil, I believe Sammay Hagar was playing "55" years before he ever oined VH. I saw a "Day of Rock-n-Roll" all-day concert in 1979-1980 with Van Halen playing and Sammy Hagar opening where I'm pretty certain his band played that song.

This was many years before David Lee Roth left VH.

I was at Phils/Jays last night as well

The Jays were wearing these caps

what the hell is that?

hideous
I thought that cap was limited to Spring Training only.

And I agree, no matter what time of year that's a hideous look for a major-leaguer (speaking of the Spring Training caps as a group).
Yeah, each team has been wearing that cap in Spring Training as well as pre-game BP for 3 seasons now. I'll have to add that they're VERY comfortable.
I was going to say that I'm more into suggestions for MLB socks with stripes on them:

I really like the 3-stripes look on the A's, Giants and Pirates. Using the 2nd color in that manner takes a plain uniform and suddenly makes it all some worthwhile (to paraphrase a line from the Mary Tyler Moore theme song). I'd like to see that design on the other teams as well. Oh, and could you put the old teal hat with black brim on the Marlins guy??? Good stuff, Michael.

The Hilda you thought was a Milwaukee Braves fan was actually Hilda Chester, a very well-known Brooklyn Dodger fan of the 1940's and 1950's. (See http://www.baseballreliquary.org/HildaChester.htm)

Just finished watching the Reds game on FSN Ohio and in the post-game show it was "leaked" that the Reds will wear the 1964 home uniforms (seen here: http://exhibits.baseballhalloffame.org/dressed_to_the_nines/detail_page.asp?fileName=nl_1964_cincinnati.gif&Entryid=1031)for the Civil Rights game. Those are the ones with the names below the numbers on the back.

I wonder if the White Sox will wear these babies: http://exhibits.baseballhalloffame.org/dressed_to_the_nines/detail_page.asp?fileName=al_1964_chicago.gif&Entryid=1030
I really enjoyed today\'s post. I particularly liked the O\'s, Royals, Tigers, and Jays. I think the Rays treatment could work too.

I know others have already brought it up, but the Halos never wore black except for the underbrim of their 5950\'s as soon as they switched to their current color scheme. As for yellow, it only ever appeared as the color of the halo and the star on their California logo (which was worn as a sleeve patch), from the 70's and 80's.

That said, I wonder if someone could do a mock-up of the Halos with navy stirrups over red sanis, I'd love to see it. Somehow I don't think silver would work.
Looking ahead to the National League equivalent of this game, I'm curious to see how khaki sanis would look under black or brick red stirrups for the Astros. Truth be told, it would probably look like hell with the gray pants, but at home, that would have a chance of looking good, because it would bring out the least used Astros color.
