vote: blue stirrups

Here's all you need against the "Stars and Stripes" caps.
According to the Flag Code, a flag is a flag or anything "by which the average person seeing the same without deliberation may believe the same to represent the flag." So what is displayed on these caps, as well as the name of the product itself makes these caps a "US Flag".

From the US. Flag Code:
"The flag should not be used as "wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery",..."
"The flag should not be used as part of a costume or athletic uniform..."

Bottom line is that the Stars and Stripes Caps are in direct violation of the US Flag Code which is ironic for a product meant to elicit patriotism but in fact shows the ignorance of those trying to be patriotic.

[quote comment="330956"]As for baseball, as a seven-and-a-half year-old I first set foot in a big league stadium 4 July, 1996, so it’s a bit of an anniversary for me. I saw the Brewers play the Yankees at The Stadium. Greg Vaughn scored first, but Paul O’Neill and Derek Jeter homered, Pettitte won, Wetteland saved … 4-1 Yankee win (this is all from memory by the way)…it was a beautiful day, and a Yankee fan was born. And guess what? It was standard uniforms. Gray vs white. Regular hats. No special flag patches. They even sung “Take Me Out to the Ball Game.”[/quote]
Nice piece, Mike. Just to clarify -- Fernando Vina scored first in that game.

I don't think political correctness is behind the new Indians flag hat this year. I think the real reason MLB put the new flag logo on the "Block C" Indians cap instead of Cheif Wahoo is because they play at home on this holiday... and the Tribe wears their alt faux-back unis on weekends and holidays. Last year, the Tribe was on the road on July 4th, thus the Wahoo/Flag logo because the Wahoo caps are go with the road unis.

Whoever greenlighted this idea should be fired. I can't take these games seriously today when the teams look like complete buffoons with red caps clashing with their team colors. If you want to ''honor'' Memorial Day so badly, have the teams wear patches or armbands. This is just a horrible horrible idea and it is appalling.

Yeah, I guess I'll have to be the odd one out, and say that I like the idea of the Stars and Stripes cap. I'm not dumb enough to say that they're not a marketing gimmick, but I honestly don't mind them 3 times a year. That being said, I greatly prefer the blue caps from last year. What MLB really should do is offer teams the option of the red or the blue in my opinion.

The Cincinnati <a href="http://www.redsground.com" rel="nofollow"> Reds </a> should be always competitive enough to keep pace with the others. I really like them; they’ve always been my favourite teams in MLB.
Just read about them here:

The scoreboard picture was taken on July 31 1956. The Dodgers would win the game in the bottom of the 9th when Robinson would single in Pee Wee Reese.
