Your comment about the Pittsburg soccer team made me think, is there any other city where all the pro sports franchises share the same color scheme? Example Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins all using black and gold. Being a Cleveland native this wouldn’t work to well because I don’t think anyone would want to see the Cavs in brown and orange. Now also being a Bowling Green alum I have seen it in use.

Toronto’s been known for blue for years: the Jays (formerly Blue Jays) were just the latest team. The Leafs have worn blue and white for 70 years, the Argos are known as the Double Blue. Shoot, even the University of Toronto’s teams are named the Varsity Blues.

Ottawa (red, black and white) and Montreal ([i]bleu, blanc et rouge[/i]) are the same.

This implies that Little Havana is a “high crime” area of Miami, which it certainly is not. It’s really quite lovely. Cubans are not an underclass in Miami. The movie Scarface was about a particular 1980 group of criminal exiles from Cuba, nothing to do with the established Cuban community.

And I clearly said that it might have been one of the knocks. I didn’t say it was the ONLY knock, nor did I say it was definitely even ONE of the knocks.

Teams move for all sorts of reasons. Skybox economics, parking (e.g., Baltimore Memorial Stadium; which was also in a residential neighborhood) and others. I would say that its very unusual for a stadium to be abandoned for a period of years and then have a NEW stadium built at that very same site.

Miami has a history of trying to revitalize neighborhoods with stadiums/arenas. And to be fair, they’re not the only city that has tried this. IMHO, its a waste of money.

The question was valid. I’m certainly not the only person who has raised the issue.

thank god the lions logo wasn’t radically altered. i love that logo. i am glad they didn’t ruin one of the nfl’s traditional logo’s too badly. it is a relief compared to other designs i have seen.

Yep, the Lions logo is one of the best. I’m also a big fan of the color scheme. I played around with the logo and came up with these: Lions logos the one in the middle was not finished.

Anyway, SportsCenter mentioned the Lions toy truck with new logo being pulled from the website.

The Bills’ 1965 unis are more recognizable than their ’60s togs, which were identical to the Lions’. Same goes for the 1963 Raiders; the 1960-62 version looks more like the Bears. On the other side, the Chiefs and Jets have uniforms that currently resemble their AFL counterparts – hence the ‘62 Dallas Texans and ‘61 NY Titans unis.

Aside from the Chargers, I’d have to say the Broncos’ unis are the ones I’m looking forward to the most. Eagerly awaiting the brown-and-mustard striped socks…
