What's wrong with the statement? Read about how Garrison Hearst did the same thing Pennington did, only about 10 years sooner.
OOPS!

I guess they meant "Pennington became the first player in NFL history to win the award with two different teams."

Wait. Uh, no.

"Pennington became the first AFC player in NFL history to win the award twice."

First quarterback? Same decade? Same century?

I wouldn't be surprised if this has been discussed, but this might be the most odd helmet gimmick ever. Any help?

so why can\'t you work with the NFL to find a team (or schedule a team) to end their season with two away games, giving the NHL plenty of time to set up the rink?

i agree with your thoughts on pricing and such, but a football stadium\'s dimensions would work so much better...and while the bleacher bums prolly didn\'t mind paying what they did, based on JTH\'s experience (and others im sure), those seats weren\'t exactly prime seating

not trying to argue with you, just saying a football stadium would work better logistically for rink placement, and im sure they could make up for any lost ticket revenue through increased advertising (because they sure didn\'t have enough this year)
i agree

or you could even play at a college stadium and that would solve the problem
And in most cases, seat more... like the Big House in Ann Arbor.

the nhl won't have another outdoor game in canada:

the game does not need to grow in Canada.

with bettman already making excuses that it was too cold in edmonton for the heritage classic, i can guarantee you that there won't be another game outside of America. in fact, i'd be relatively surprised if a canadian team plays in a winter classic anytime soon. keep dreaming, fellas

Okay, I'll go ahead and ask the question...

Where--and between which two teams--would we like to see the Winter Classic next year?

---Ricko
I would like to see Toronto-Montreal and the Boston-New York to get the all the orginal six teams. Then maybe start with the 69 expansion teams
I was thinking Montreal at Toronto for next year at Rogers Centre (roof open of course). Can't do it in Montreal because Olympic Stadium's roof won't open and the Montreal Alouette's CFL stadium may be too small (20,202 capacity).
On second thought, Rogers Centre may be a bad idea, because the Bills might play their Toronto home game in December again next season, plus the International Bowl is played at Rogers Centre after New Years Day. Not enough time in between to build a hockey rink.

Oops on that last one.

Ooh, one thing I just remembered about the game today that struck me as somewhat odd: Gene Honda was the PA announcer.

It's not odd that he was working a Blackhawks game -- he's their regular announcer. It's just odd that he was doing it at Wrigley because he's also the White Sox' PA announcer.
Sounds like Harry Caray. He jumped ship from the Sox as well, didn't he?
Yeah. And Steve Stone went the other way. He was the Cubs’ color guy for a long time, then he quit for a couple years and came back last year with the Sox.

But Honda is still (as far as I know) working for both the Sox and the Hawks.
