A scarier goalie mask would be a big NObama piece with a hammer and sickle on the side and the words "Union of Socialist States of America" on the chin piece.

Oh wait... did I just think for myself there?

So that's why the Dodgers haven't won in 20 years, the Royals in 23 years and the A's in 19 years?
Oh, and that TOTALLY explains the Cubs' problems.

Don't know if anyone picked this up but....the last 13 WS Champs have either worn a hat that is either in the "family of red", or a color that is either black or a very dark navy blue:

2008- Phillies (Red Hat)
2007- Red Sox (Red/Navy Blue Hat)
2006- Cardinals (Red Hat)
2005- White Sox (Black Hat)
2004- Red Sox
2003- Marlins (Black Hat)
2002- Angels (Red Hat)
2001- Diamondbacks (Road Hat- Black)
2000- Yankees- (Navy Hat, but looks like black)
1999- Yankees
1998- Yankees
1997- Marlins
1996- Yankees

This research possibly shows us two things- dark colors and red are popular in MLB, or the very good teams wear dark colors and red and the rest of the teams will be switching to these colors in the near future....
For the most part all MLB teams hats are one of four colors: Royal Blue, Red, Navy Blue, Black. The exception being the Oakland A's who wear green caps.

Does anybody (probably Teebz, if anyone) know if the Habs' line of special throwbacks is available for purchase?
Not yet, but Reebok is reportedly going to have them available by mid-season. So the answer is "eventually". :o)

That's Hobart College. They held a military tribute night on campus for any military personnel last season.
A history going back to the 1940 Cotton Bowl and probably one of the most interesting relationships in the current ACC

You call it interesting, I call it playing those schmucks we haven't been able to beat since 1958. :-)
The San Francisco Chronicle's Raiders beat writer states in today's paper that McFadden has a deal with Nike and the Raiders have a team deal with Nike. If that's the case, then they're stuck with Nike having to fix the shoe. Kind of a bad situation to be in with one of your high profile marquee players beholden to a shoe contract that is possibly affecting his performance. The worst kind of logo creep!
Thank you Paul, for the continued fine job.
I have a hard time believing this. A team with a shoe deal? In the NFL? Nah. Judging from how far downhill the Chron website has fallen, I wouldn't take this info as gospel.

McFadden, in this pic:

http://www.zimbio.com/pictures/3_XKE8iuLVx/Oakland+Raiders+v+Buffalo+Bills/u-uftNUklVw/Darren+McFadden

is wearing the Nike Sper Speed D, as in Detachable.

I personally find them to have a VERY narrow toe box, which constricts my toes and causes much discomfort.

The Adidas that he preferred while at UA:

http://assets.nydailynews.com/img/2008/04/18/alg_mcfadden.jpg

are MUCH wider, especially his Pro Models, from the second pic, which are based on the classic shell-toe, which is a much wider shoe!
And that is exactly the reason I usually go with adidas tennis shoes over Nike. I find the Nike to be much more narrow, even the wide style, compaired to an adidas shoe.
Although, these are one of my favorite sneakers of all time:

The Nike Zoom Tennis Trainer. Notice the graphic on the tongue.

A few years back, with subtle differences, such as a clear sole, it was released as the Zoom Trainer 1, a cross-trainer based on the Air Trainer 1.

Those gray Nike cross-trainers were THE BEST.
Comfortable beyond belief, and they took a LONG time to wear out; great for me who mostly always played on hard courts. McEnroe saw em one day on a tour of the campus, they were just prototypes, and started wearing them. While Mac was a high-profile Nike guy, he never had a signature shoe. In fact, I don't think any player has ever had a shoe with his name on it; IE the Air Agassi.
Sampras was associated with the Air Oscillate, but even then, he would wear Wilson shoes with a swoosh.

In fact, I don’t think any player has ever had a shoe with his name on it; IE the Air Agassi.
Sampras was associated with the Air Oscillate, but even then, he would wear Wilson shoes with a swoosh.

Don't know if anyone picked this up but....the last 13 WS Champs have either worn a hat that is either in the "family of red", or a color that is either black or a very dark navy blue:

2008- Phillies (Red Hat)
2007- Red Sox (Red/Navy Blue Hat)
2006- Cardinals (Red Hat)
2005- White Sox (Black Hat)
2004- Red Sox
2003- Marlins (Black Hat)
2002- Angels (Red Hat)
2001- Diamondbacks (Road Hat- Black)
2000- Yankees- (Navy Hat, but looks like black)
1999- Yankees
1998- Yankees
1997- Marlins
1996- Yankees

This research possibly shows us two things- dark colors and red are popular in MLB, or the very good teams wear dark colors and red and the rest of the teams will be switching to these colors in the near future....
