They had Charlie Manuel on the podium with Joe Blanton. One of the media members asked about the spot on the bill of Blanton's cap because during the game Joe Maddon had the umpires check the cap for pine tar after seeing the spot. At some point during the response Manuel pointed out that he had a similar, though lighter spot on his own cap bill. He said (paraphrasing somewhat) "I have a spot on my cap too. Its just some dirt. I haven't changed caps all year." He took the cap off and showed it to the room. I had always assumed that the players were issued new caps for the Series with the patch on the side. However, the caps being worn by Blanton and Manuel are clearly the ones they have had all season and they both have the patch. So, apparently there is a seamstress somewhere sewing those patches onto grimy lids. Maybe everyone else had already figured that out but it was news to me.
