Whoever made the map is also geographically deficient. The Dakotas are combined as is Idaho and Montana.

Detroit need to be in the Eastern Confernce. Not only does it make geographic sense but will provide more games with Original 6 teams.

Did you perhaps notice that Columbus is further east? Besides, the Original 6 games are a big draw for west teams too. And the East has 4 of the teams, you can’t take one away.

If anybody ever moves, it’ll be Columbus.

Uh, plus Detroit’s traditional rivals are in the Western Conference as well. Move the Wings to the east and you only get one Hawks-Wings game a year.
