You know, Paul, a lot of us were less irritated with your politics than we were with the fact that you essentially accused the Yankees of being iconic of everything that's wrong with America.
And hey, I managed to do that without even mentioning that they were the next-to-last team to sign a black player, or that George Steinbrenner is a convicted felon because he gave illegal campaign contributions to Richard Nixon, or that one of the first President Bush's last acts in office was to give Steinbrenner an undeserved pardon, or that Steinbrenner was at one point banned from baseball for hiring a private eye to dig up dirt on his most popular black player.

But hey, since you brought it up...
I have a hunch that the things you dislike about the Stadium are more because you just don't care for them and less because they're symbolic of pre-Civil Rights white America. Bob Sheppard and Sinatra and organ music are latently racist? C'mon! You're always the traditionalist, Paul; you want stirrups and old-fashioned advertisements and all the rest--how are those not symbols of the same culture? They're old, Paul, not evil.

The fact that the Yankees have a long history is inevitably going to lead to the fact that, yes, there was a time when baseball and the country at large was very, very racist. But consider that the Yankees were under different ownership at the time, and that the Yankees have definitely changed their ways, and that your Mets weren't even around at the time to make that decision.

As for Steinbrenner, I find that most Yankee fans, myself included, strongly dislike his character. On the other hand, plenty of organizations have less-than-admirable people working for them. Why does Daryl Strawberry keep showing up on the Jumbotron at Shea after his long history of substance and spousal abuse?

You can say what you like about the team's owner, Paul, and no Yankee fan in their right mind would argue. But accusing the team and it's traditions of racism and oppression isn't just insulting to the fans, it's insulting to hundreds of past ballplayers who have shaped the game for the better. You want to see institutional racism in a baseball team? I give you the Cleveland Indians.

Just an FYI about the UMiami Helmet cart, that is actually NOT a Dolphins design, but one we here at the U have been using on and off for quite some time. Its traditionally brought out during homecoming and seniors night, and usually is driven by our mascot's (Sebastian the Ibis) parents.

Kinda stupid gag I know, but its tradition here.

The Mariners have a plaque in the visitors bullpen honoring Cal Ripken, Jr.

Ripken hit a home run into that bullpen during the 2001 All Star game - where he was also the MVP.
Miguel Cabrera led the American League with 37 home runs in 2008. 37. I guess the steroid policy is working.

In all seriousness, I think we've seen the end of the "multiple guys with 50+ homers in a season" era.
I'd dare say that the banning of "greenies" (amphetamines) has had a more profound effect on Major League Baseball than anything else, in terms of drug policies.

With steroids, only a certain percentage of players were on them...meanwhile most would pop a greenie at some point. All that travel and day games after night games will catch up with even the best conditioned ballplayers.

To add to the uni discussion...I agree that the new Oklahoma City road jerseys leave a lot to be desired. Like a couple have suggested earlier, they could have gone over/under the number...or they could have gone with OKC on the front. At least there's an NBA precedent for abbreviations on the front (MPLS. and PHILA come to mind).

F*ck. I miss the Sonics already, and I'm not even from Seattle.
OKLA. CITY wordmark too cluttered on top (why not go over and under like UNC?), jerseys as boring as hell, too many colors blending in with each other, road blues look like women's fashion Warriors jerseys, home whites look like Pat Summitt's Lady Vols, and oh by the way, did a NBA Equipment shield fall off that front triangle?
All apologies to a joke PL linked to for the logo unveiling, but...ladies and gentlemen, the WTF Blunder.
So they just pulled some template from the NBDL huh?
Going through the photo shoot why?? and what exactly is written across their butt?
