That "1" is too close to a "7" for my tastes. Adding an "h" is the most common convention, but you see the double vowels as well. It depends on who taught them English in Junior High. Some Japanese teachers of English also use "s" or sometimes a "z" for "sh" and "tu" for "tsu" and there isn't any consistency to how romaji (roman characters) are used.
