True, but by the time this photo was taken they had moved over to the AFC upon the creation of the two conferences. All of the identifiable helmets are of NFC teams.

On the road, they wore purple pants w/two white stripes back in the day, 1974. That was Vince Gibson’s last year and my first at State. Steve Grogan was qb. It was the last year for white helmets (single purple stripe). At home, it was white pants with a single purple stripe.

The next year, gray was reintroduced (Gibson had it his first year). Except for a couple years in the Stan Parrish era, silver or gray has been part of the football color scheme. I wish they’d stick with purple and white — the school colors as they’re sung in “Alma Mater.”

Actually I’m pretty sure that hat is a Winchester Royals hat, a Collegiate Summer League Team in Winchester, VA, not too far from the DC Baltimore Area. I go to college with a guy that played for them this past summer and have seen him in the hat. Here’s a pic of the team so you guys can tell.

Weird shot here of the st. louis blues vs. the coloumbus bluejackets. The blues are wearing there old( pre rbk edge) uniforms. The bluejackets are wearing there rbk edge jerseys in the same game. Anyone know what is up with this?
