I have also heard of this used in high school and college sports, though many times it is also a monetary issue (not being able to replace a full uni set every year due to name changes).

Would it be possible for an NFL player to wear a particular brand of helmet, and a facemask from a different manufacturer? I know at the NCAA level, helmets are fitted to players sans facemasks, and the facemasks are added later… but since colleges usually have a single helmet/facemask manufacturer, there’s not an opportunity to “mix-and-match”, so to speak…

The helmet is made by Riddell, as are most of the Vikings, however the facemask is defintely made by Schutt.

It is part of their “Moto-cross” inspired line.
