Man, that Stockton Thunder logo is terrible.

It's what's exactly wrong with logo design these days ... they all look the same. Thick, modern, "forward-motion" typeface.

And that "N" trying to be lightning bolt? Yikes.

Changing topics, NBA down to 6 names: Barons, Bison, Wind, Thunder, Marshalls(sic) and Energy. ESPN points out it should be Marshals. I think we can check off Wind(whoever came up with that name should be fired). I like Bison, but think it will be nixed because we already have Bulls. Energy would be an interesting pick, but I don't think it's going to happen. I do think Energy is the only one that sounds better with Oklahoma City as oppossed to just Oklahoma.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3505617
Hell, I live in Oklahoma and I would like to see the Barons personally. Marshals would be cool though, Marshalls would not. I'll bet the only reason it was misspelled is because someone from Oklahoma submitted the name.
I agree. I rank the names:
1. Barons
2. Marshalls (or Marshals)
(drop off)
3. Thunder
4. Bison
(big drop off)
5. Energy
6. Wind
...It's Thunder...this was announced last week.
No, it was not. It was reported to be, according to a local OKC TV station, but that was not confirmed. Until the team announces it, it's a rumor. A speculative story at best.

These six trademark rights applications are fact, and it's a lock that one of these six will be it. Thunder seems the most likely, thanks to that news report. But it is not a given that they will choose that name.

And I hope they don't. The best name on the list is Barons. Marshals would be number two, if they spelled it correctly. The other four are terrible, and I hope they included them just to show people how much worse than Barons the choice could be.

I will maintain until my dying day, though, that the team should be named in honor of the man who made it all possible. Go with a royal blue/white/gold accent color scheme, and call them the Stars of David.

Does anyone collect the McFarlane sports action figures? I don't collect per say, but I do pick up all the Yankees and Patriots I can find. The figures are pretty good in small uniform details, especially in recent years, however I just noticed something interesting. In looking at the newly released Chien-Ming Wang (which is supposed to be in 2008 uniform, and has the ASG and Final Season patches) but it has the grey underbrim of the old wool 5950's. Just wondering do ay of the other new figures have this, or is it only Wang? A weird thing to ask I know..
Does Wang just like to wear the old 5950's like Papelbon, or is it just an accident?
Since the new caps came in last year, I've never seen him wear an old one, and I do usually look.

They wouldn't be the first. The AFL2 team in Youngstown, Ohio has the same concept.

don't forget the stockton thunder of the ECHL. they also encorporate the thor logo.
Ref the Oklahoma City NBA team, I think "Thunder" rolls off the tongue the smoothest. And it's appropriate for the area/region. Although,

Most the other choices for nicknames have been used before. Except for "Energy", which sounds kinda silly when you say it a few times, and Marshall, or Marshalls...whichever they intended to use.

Other nicknames:

Barons (Cleveland, NHL)
Bison(s) (Buffalo, IL, Minor League Baseball)
Wind (Wichita, Central Hockey League)
Thunder (Portland, WFL)

The logo for the Wichita Wind was actually pretty cool...
Everybody has it all rong. It should be the Oklahoma City Panhandlers.
