I was sitting at a bar in the greater Cincinnati area last night with a couple of big Reds fans. Without my prompting, we managed to get into a discussion of the camo jerseys. Unanimous decision? Ugly as sin.

Also, and this might be a minor point, exactly where are they planning on blending in? The jerseys are lighter than desert camo (where the soldiers currently are) and lighter than woodlands camo (where Cincinnati would probably fit in the camo spectrum). Were they supporting troops fighting in some sort of speculative scrubland?

And, that has me thinking? Do any of the branches use this kind of camo? I remember the great Marine Corps. change to the computer-designed camo, and I thought the Army changed at some point. Admittedly splitting the hair rather fine, but does this camo resemble anything in current use by the soldiers they're supporting?
Doesn't any know that since these uni's were sponsored by the US ARMY, then they must have gone through a rigorous approval process by the US ARMY? Who is anyone to judge the color of the camo, or the style based on the proximity of the team to a military base, when without a doubt the Army gave their OK?

They were different, and unusual, but all in all, a different look that I wouldn't mind seeing every year for a game or two.

Definitely aren't worse than the TURN AHEAD THE CLOCK unis from years ago.

<i>And how would explain the Canadian flag logo? It obviously wasn’t an Independence day hat for them.</i>

Canadian forces are serving in Afghanistan. As this ostensibly was a "support the returning veterans" promotion, it would be appropriate to honor those brave men and women.

I'm interested in seeing some of the list of those "stupid-ass stuff" that the Reds have done over the years. Don't throw it out if you're not going to back it up
OK then. I didn't know I needed to answer to the Reds Loyalist Club. Wait, I don't. But here are a few stupid-ass things (and don't forget the giant turd at the top of the page):

<a href="http://exhibits.baseballhalloffame.org/dressed_to_the_nines/detail_page.asp?fileName=nl_1936_cincinnati.gif&Entryid=574" rel="nofollow">Here</a>, <a href="http://exhibits.baseballhalloffame.org/dressed_to_the_nines/detail_page.asp?fileName=nl_1999_cincinnati.gif&Entryid=1912" rel="nofollow">here</a> and <a href="http://exhibits.baseballhalloffame.org/dressed_to_the_nines/detail_page.asp?fileName=nl_1995_cincinnati.gif&Entryid=1797" rel="nofollow">here</a>.

Now go enjoy another season below .500.
Wow, I have to say I was rather surprised to come home from vacation to see a nice attack on someone who did nothing more that ask you to elaborate on a statement you yourself made. If you would have added the links into your original post no one would have had to ask you what uniforms you did not like. In turn you would not have had to lash out like that.

I agree with the vests, they were ugly and I am sure almost every single Reds fan would agree with you. However, the way you went about addressing this was a tad out of line.

There is no reason to attack people Bryan, no one attacked you. I know there were rough times when you first took over the role but you should realize the majority of people who read this blog enjoy your additions along with Paul's. The Bryan Bashers show up now and again but that is the nature of the internet, faceless internet tough guys reign supreme. You however should be happy that people are directly engaging you in YOUR opinion on uniforms, that should be a compliment to you.

To lash out and attack someone's right to ask a question and then to go on and attack the team they support is out of line in my opinion, especially in a case where no one attacked you in the first case.

I will continue to read, agree and disagree with both your posts on here and Paul's and that is the beauty of this site, it has always been an inviting place to engage in active conversation on uniform design. The second that the members on here no longer feel welcome though will be a sad day for both uniwatch readers and those who just love the aspect of design.

Respectfully,

Wow... Jumping down someone’s throat for asking you to qualify a vague statement you made. Is this not a forum to discuss what individual people find aesthetically pleasing in sports uniform design and related issues? You might want to consider that not everyone shares your opinion, and at times might want to engage you in a debate on the merits of you assertions. Could the Camo pattern selected for the jerseys have been better? Probably Yes. Personally, I did not find anything wrong with the jerseys that were eventually linked. I do not read this blog excepting to totally agree 100% with every post. If you think about it how much fun would it be if we sat around and told each other how right we were all the time?
The giveaway associated with this promotion was actually sponsored by the U.S. Army.
I see no problem in an organization celebrating the holiday of our birth as a nation and our independence by honoring the men and women that devote their lives to insuring that very independence.
I’ve rambled on here far more then planned. So with that being said I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday weekend.
