I just got an email from World Rugby Shop that the USA Eagles are now sponsored by jersey maker Canterbury. They are getting brand new kits, and first impressions are NOT good. Even by rugby standards.

Concerning batting helmet inserts, if memory serves (certainly a big if) Sam McDowell of the Indians and later of the Giants wore an insert instead of a batting helmet. McDowell is still associated with baseball in some capacity as an alcohol counselor, I think, so it might be possible to get in touch with him to verify.

By the way, has anyone here seen unis based on whatever they wore over at the Elysian Fields in Hoboken?
One pic of the game at Elysian Fields is not here, can't really see the outfits in 1846, '59 and '65 has the color pic which is referenced a bit. Nice shot of that not here.

YEE-HAW!
Sadly, the Buckhannon Break is no longer - jeez, I miss the glory days of that franchise.
[sarcasm]
If only the uniforms were up to the caliber of their logos and that website. I don't expect the football to be anything but...interesting, abt st. I mean, let's get real. Seriously, though, nice looking website.
The Cleveland Cobra is neat.

Some of those logos look a lot like the custom team logos on the ESPN NFL football game circa 2004. No pix handy, need a time machine.

Hoboken has a plaque in honor of the Elysian Fields game, also a crosswalk at an intersection is paved to resemble a baseball diamond. Not to scale, but still fun to cross the street and pretend to steal the base or score a run! View of the intersection, here.

Ahh, the CFL. The only league that had two teams with the same name for eighty years.
