Just noticed that on the alternate jersey for the Danbury Mad Hatters, the number on the sleeve of the view of the back of the jersey reads 80, not 08.

“Skinny marinck” is just an old-timey east coast description of a skinny guy. Sinatra referred to his young self as one. My mother-in-law and other of my wife’s relatives in Jersey have referred to several folks, though not me, as such too.

Another popular brand is Ringor. Many college and minor leaguers still wear them.

A few years back, the compant Tanel did pretty well for a while as well, in bothe the baseball and football markets. Their gimmick was the 360 degree cleat pattern!

Brand usage by MLB players, as only an estimate, would probably be ranked in an order somewhat similar to this:

1. Nike
2. Easton
3. Adidas
4. Under Armour
5. Asics
6. Reebok
7. Verdero
8. Jordan Brand
9. Puma
10. B-Top, and Mr. Abreu has NOT been wearing them lately.

Honorable mention: I recall seeing a player or two wearing New Balance spikes.

A few years back, our friend, Gabe Kapler, was sponsored by Adidas look-alike K-Swiss. That soon fizzled, much like someone’s production, although he is contributing nicely this year in Milwaukee.

I’ll take a guess. Batting gloves to prevent blisters and/or reduce shock, and taped glove fingers for extra friction to keep the bat from slipping out of the hands.
My childhood favorite always had a taped bat with gloves when he was a Yankee. Not a great shot, but the tape is that criss-cross pattern on the handle.

He had the lattice work pattern done with athletic tape and Easton VRS gloves, if I’m not mistaken!

Tony Gwynn taped his Franklin’s on a pretty reagular basis.
