A few things I didn't see in the 238 comments above, and probably no one else will see because this thread is old, but...

Isn't 42 the only number retired by Washington? Didn't they put all of the Expos numbers back in circulation and now the only place those are on display is at Canadiens games? Sad they can't find a way to honor Montreal players and D.C. greats together as the St. Louis Rams did with Rams/Cardinals ring of honor. Thought that was worth a mention.

This is getting technical, but the blue in the 42 appears to be Dodgers blue and not Nationals navy. May not be on purpose, but it might be their way of differentiating. Too bad they dropped those other numbers.

And several other people caught the Cardinals being used as an example of both types.
this New York allegence topic has always been a source of fascination to me. If I were born in NY, I would root for ALL of the teams! They are all representing the city in which you are from.

The same goes for Chicago and LA. What am I missing here?
You just can not bro. The foundation was laid a looooooong time ago. You have a whole bunch of teams to pick from, pick one from a sport and take them in as your own. No way can you be accepted as liking both the yanks and mets or giants and jets. You will be smacked or made fun of for hours. People from Jersey or NY will back me up on this
"What design are you talking about? If it's the Shield design that was only for two seasons (76-77 / 77-78)..."
Yes, the shield ones. The design was so horrid, and so un-Original Six even Islanders fans hated that, am I correct LI Phil? (Not that there's anything wrong with hating the Rangers in Nassau County, mind you...)
"Just clarifying that in between the Polo Grounds and Giants Stadium they played at Yankee Stadium. And what is up with the Shea Stadium reference on the Giants official site? Am I reading that correctly?"
[Ed McMaon impression]You are correct sir![/Ed McMahon impression] They played at Shea in 1975, after spending a year and a half at the Yale Bowl in New Haven, CT as Yankee Stadium was closed for renovations.

And as for the Polo Grounds, the baseball and football Giants played there, followed in 1960 by the Titans (later known as the Jets) and the Mets.

but we all know that Spidey is actually a Mets Fan, which i had a decent camera to take a picture of Peter Parker in a Mets cap. so maybe he was trying to figure away to trick the Green Goblin(or is the Green Meanie) into blowing Yankee Satdium up

cant speak for the windy city or the city of angels...but in NY...

you simply cannot root for both teams in one sport...not outwardly anyway...you must pick one team and stick with it...that's just the way it is

larry jones may love NY...including naming his kid shea...but he was DEAD wrong in '99...after the braves beat the mets in 6 (F-CK YOU KENNY ROGERS)...he said something to the effect of..."now y'all (mets fans) can go home and put on your yankee gear and root for them to beat us"

...for 99% of us heartbroken mets fans...'99 was hard...we coudn't root for the hated yanks...and we sure as SHIT couldn't root for the braves

even then-mayor rudy giuliani pulled a major faux-pas in 2000...when he proclaimed that both NY teams were winners (yeah ... we know who YOU were pulling for rudy) and there'd be TWO parades...one for the WS winner and one for the loser

the mets politely declined
The Madison Mallards of the Northwoods League displayed their new uniforms tonight. I wish I had a picture, but I don't. Hopefully they will be up on their website soon.

Never mind.. I just went ahead and rewound my DVR to get a screen grab of the jersey. They didn't show the whole jersey...just the front. I really like the "M", but not crazy about the rest of the font.
