anyone know what teams in europe wear pink jerseys for soccer? my intermural team FC Keep It Real United decided to go with pink and I need to dress accordingly. Thanks.

Try Palermo in Italy and Sport Boys in Peru. Sevilla has an alternate jersey that makes you look like blocks of neapolitan ice cream.

Stopped by the Tigers spring opener today against Florida Southern College. Andy Van Slyke and Gene Lamont were both wearing flapless helmets down the baselines.

Nice to see the Tigers wearing the white jerseys instead of the BP jerseys in a ST game.

With only 7 photos per game, and a time limit of 72 hours, it’ll be much harder to find photos of specific incidents during baseball season, and an archive of only the past three days will cut down on the chance of finding out exactly when that nameplate became misspelled or that pitcher started writing on his glove. I think this’ll hit the smaller-market teams harder, as photos from that Royals-Rays game will be limited to the local papers and the AP, Reuters, etc. It looks like taking pictures at games you attend and taking screencaptures from broadcast games will be much more important this season.

Key word: THINK. As in, I THINK I would rather wear a color of civic pride as opposed to the fashion color of the moment. (Fact: red seems like the “in” color of modern jersey designs.) Just THINKING. Nothing more, nothing less.

The point of the article was that the management group wants to be more traditional, and hence, doesn’t like the red jersey. I think we’ll see it less this year, if at all, followed by a change next year. Last year they wore it every Friday home game.

They still have teh black jersey with sleaves available to them as well, and I don’t think they wore that at all last year. Prehaps we will see that again this year rather than the red vest?

Dejan said the red jerseys “will remain for another year … and probably not more.” They will still show up throughout this season, probably for the same Friday night games (13 total).

(FYI: The red we smeared on everything last year? Was a McClatchy thing. We’ve stopped using red as a primary color on just about everything and are sticking to good ole black & gold.)

The black full-sleeved jerseys are completely retired and are not currently MLB-approved.

It’s very similar to what happened with the Reds last year. They got new jerseys last year because they were too late to get a new style approved for ‘06 since they had just taken over at the time.

They are still selling the black jersey as an authentic jersey;
I guess that doesn’t mean they’ll be worn, only that you can still buy an authentic one.

I never hated the idea of using red, but I still have not seen them do it in a way I liked. The red and yellow (sorry gold) simply clash too hard. I kind liked the black jersey though; I think it came the closet to using red well. I picked up a game used one of those at Pirate Fest for $25. If they used them same font as vests on that jersey I think it would have been a winner.

You know, now that I think about it, they hardly ever wore the Red Vests (only about 8% of the time), but it seemed like so much more becasue I always watch the Pirate game on Friday nights, where I miss most of the weekday day games.

Wow! Thats an actual ribbon, not just an embroidered patch shaped like a ribbon. I have no problem with it, I think it looks better that way.
