Next on Versus: Bear-Wrasslin’

Hockey

If there’s ever been an NHL fight more likely to end in awesomeness, it was this one on Friday night. Florida’s Olli Jokinen looks like he’s getting ready to dive in and start biting. Vancouver’s Ryan Kesler looks like he’s getting ready to grapple WWE-style. Unorthodox techniques on both sides, to be sure.

So what happened? This is what happened. What did I say? Awesomeness.

Uni-related notes here: The Panthers’ yellow piping detail looks ridiculous, especially when overlapped by a bright white C. The hemline on the Canucks’ jerseys aims less toward ridiculous and more toward silly. And for frick’s sake, someone wash Kesler’s breezers!

Go forth into awesomeness. — Bryan

The second I turned this game on, I was shocked at how bad the Panthers jersey’s stuck out. The piping looks awful (especially with the captain’s C or A over the top). I could have swore I also saw a paw on one guys jersey overlap (maybe a smaller player?). Also, the half arm strips on the elbows are ugly. The shoulder stripping ends behind the neck to allow the Reebok logo, which really sticks out.

Then again, as they showed fans in the crowd with old Panthers jerseys, they weren’t much better (with the pointed shoulder stripping).

The new alternates for the A’s were shown off at Fanfest last week.

last night, UMass Amherst @ Northeastern was the Hockey East Game of the Week on NESN. UMass was wearing gray breezers. generally they have maroon breezers, like in this picture. I thought the grays looked really cool.

The only place I could find a good picture of the grays was in a flash-based photo gallery located here. click on the 10/20/2007 HCKY vs. UCONN link.

We already have gone through this unneeded use of black in a uniform much in the same way we have destroyed the USC Southern California Song Girls “shooting the moon” with their thongs when they twirl on TV, the gold (or white) “C’ to signify UCLA’s 100 NCAA Championships or the green dot that tells Mr. NFL Referee the quarterback has a radio communications system inside his helmet. We’re beating a fricking dead horse around here with them.

Now, before someone gets pissed off about being on their lawn or getting near their damned shed, I will stop and leave for the monent, and say that will be the last time anyone today will mention them. Gracias, amigos y amigas.

UMass has been wearing the grey breezers all season. I thought they were only wearing them at home, though. They always remind me of Ohio State Football for some reason.

By the way, Joe Lunardi saw his shadow today, and you all know what that means.

Six more weeks of Bracketology!

Looks like Olli is doing his best impression of the logo on his chest.

I mean, how does anyone in the Panther front office honestly think the piping look good?? Is it like the NFL, where they have to use it for a period of time before they are allowed to change….

Sorry, I haven’t been around for a few days. And you forgot to mention the Bucs’ practice herseys.

Very bold colors on display at the University of North Dakota/University of Minnesota hockey game last night. The Fighting Sioux were in their green aways and the Gophers were in their “gold” alts. This video gives a good look, and not to mention the sweetest goal of the year!

Bryan, You found a fine photo. It appears that Jokinen is trying to become the team logo-come-to-life. Hockey charades…I love it.

I’m interested to know what the favorite uniforms are in Major League Baseball, the NBA, the NFL, and the NHL. I’m talking about current uniforms, and I mean the whole package (home, road, and applicable alternates). Here are mine:

MLB: New York Yankees
NBA: Detroit Pistons
NFL: Cleveland Browns (if 49ers wore their throwbacks in every game, they would supplant the Browns)
NHL: Detroit Red Wings

worst: anything cincinatti wears

best hoop: lake-show (home), bulls (red aways), celtics (alts)

best puck: leafs (home), habs (away), pens (baby blue alt) *i know it’s a throwback, but we’re kinda grasping at straws for ‘alts’ and the pens Got It (TM)

Why don’t you make a proactive effort to lower your blood pressure and just not come back at all?

Baseball: It would be the A’s if they kept the green alts, but this year I have to go for the Royals.

Football: Raiders. Simple and effective.

Basketball: I’m not a huge basketball fan, but I’ll go with the Clippers out of my limited knowledge.

Hockey: Only one choice here: Canadiens. Honorable mentions to the Bruins and Canucks.

To answer all of the above threads at once:

-best uni in hockey is Les Glorieux. I try not to be a uniform reactionary (or at least not as reactionary as some here), but some unis were born perfect. (Actually, interesting to see the subtle uni-differences there).

-In the second photo from Bryan, I think Kesler is trying to reshape Jokinen into the Canucks’ leaping-orca logo.

-I can do without black jerseys, green dots, and uni-minutia, but sometimes the Song Girls are the only thing that get me through the day. ‘Kay?

football: Raiders
baseball: Cardinals
Basketball: Nuggets
Hockey: Blackhawks

NFL: Oakland Raiders
NHL: Chicago Blackhawks

Minor league baseball: Most definitely not Portland’s new duds. Disgusting.

For some reason, I love the Browns unis but I still want them to bring back the orange pants, at least a few times a season.

Fave unis

MLB – Cubs home
NBA – Hornets home
NFL – Probably a minority here, but. . .Giants Away uniform. There is just something about it
I don’t watch NHL, so instead I’ll say NCAA – LSU, but I’m way biased

What the heck are breezers?

Adidas and FFF has unveiled a new RED jersey for Euro 2008. This could be the first national team wearing an alternate jersey since US Soccer playing in red Adi, circa 1979. No pics, sorry.

But it’s these things:

Thorold Blair said:

no really

Breezers

I grew up playing hockey in northern New York and I have never heard the term used before. We would just call them “hockey pants”.

MLB – LA Dodgers
NFL – Chicago Bears (minus the fucking Orange tops)
NHL – Montreal Canadiens, hands down.
NCAA Hoops (because NBA is unwatchable) – Indiana…gotta love those warmups, too.

Slow down. The USA wore these in 2006 against Latvia in East Hartford, CT.

Details here

MLB Dodgers or Cubs home
NFL Steelers
NHL Any of the Original 6, + Minnesota
NBA Celtics, no black
NCAA USC Song Girls

My top unis (this is a fun game so I’ve added some more leagues):

MLB: Detroit
NHL: Chicago
NFL: Cleveland
NBA: Boston
CFL: Saskatchewan
EPL: Sunderland

MLB – Cards, hands down

NBA – Celtics / Clippers
NHL – Blackhawks, oops
NCAA – Wisconsin (FB)…Notre Dame (BB)

NCAA: Florida Gators Cheerleaders

The US has used plenty of alternate jerseys. The men had light blue pinstripes, the women had pink jerseys, and this is all just in the last year or two.

I can’t be bothered to look it up right now, but I’m willing to bet that there have been plenty of other alt. national team jerseys between now and 1979

NFL: Browns (I really like the Browns’ gray facemasks and their sleeve striping. I wish the Vikes would adopt that style, much like the throwbacks they wore early this season.)

MLB: Cardinals

NBA: Celtics or Bulls

NHL: Original 6

I was going to say Bears and Jets too for NFL, but Fleeser is looking for favorite team unis including alternates. Those orange Bears and monochrome green Jets unis are just too ugly. I can handle the black Celtics and Bulls alts, since a lot of other teams have worse alts.

Oh yah, Go North Dakota!

The article mentions it was a one timer, but I agree the blue pinstripes is an alternate. Still, this red France jersey is really big news in Europe, where the only thing teams happen to alter are socks and shorts. With France and Italy being the last two countries not to have ever changed their away colors , this move could be followed by a lot.

Wow… what an amazing goal. Almost amazing as impressive as Mike Legge’s goal back in ‘96 for the Wolverines.

On a side note, my friend and now pro hockey player Joe Pavelski (SJ Sharks) did the same goal in High School in 2002, and it was an exact replica of that Legge goal. NFL: Buffalo Bills(especially the throwbacks)

MLB: Cincinnati Reds
NBA: Golden State Warriors
NCAA: The Iowa Hawkeyes

I actually thought breezers were the so called “shell” that goes over the pants, maybe I am mistaken, but I don’t think so.

They showed why the Giants player was wearing the Kellie Pickler No-Glare strips last night on the tonight show. She gave them to him as a joke.

Favorite uniforms (Excluding Philly teams, which I’d have to pick by default in each sport)

(And yes, there is a pattern here)

MLB: Kansas City Royals
NFL: Indianapolis Colts
NBA: Boston Celtics
NHL: Toronto Maple Leafs

i was watching a nyc psal basketball tournament (palyed at nyu) on friday evening 2/1 and saw the most horrendous uniforms worn by cardoza and jfk high schools. who came up with these offensive designs?

Favorites by sport:
NFL Dallas Cowboys
MLB SF Giants
NHL always liked the Blackhawks
NBA Celtics

bonus:
NCAA USC Song Girls

NHL: Wings, Penguins
NFL: Browns, Seattle (helmet)
NBA: Celtics
MLB: Detroit (home), Boston (home and away)

Here’s my “Canadian” take. We’ve always called them pants, not “breezers” and especially not “shorts”.
During the disaster known as the “Cooperall period”, there were actually two components – the girdle and the shell, which was either short with socks or ugh… long, with no pants. Thankfully, that is no more, however, there are guys out there who will wear a shell over their pants.
Again, the “Breezers” term seem strictly a Minnesota thing, so I would say that any general discussion regarding hockey should refer to the name pants. Thanks!

I meant: “….long, with no socks….”

Great thread today, thanks for putting hockey on top, Bryan!

As if the Panthers jersey wasn’t hideous enough — all black pants? No side stripes? No red pants for contrast?

Thanks for posting the UM vs. UND clip, Ryne, awesome goal. And seeing yellow vs. green jerseys is definite eye candy!!

Okay, I’ll play favorite jerseys as well:

MLB – Detroit Tigers home
NFL – NY Jets dark
NBA – NY Knicks blue

NBA: Boston Celtics, minus the black alt
NFL: Packers and Giants
NHL: Chicago Blackhawks, easily
NCAA F: Notre Dame
NCAAB: I liked Duke’s old uniform and NC

I will try and grab a screen shot.

MLB: Pirates minus red
NFL:Raiders (Cheerleaders is good too)
NHL: Bruins love the shoulder patch
NBA: Celtics minus black

CFL: Saskatchewan
NFL: Green Bay (was Pittsburgh until the got the stupid rounded Nike fonts – bring back the block!)

story on NHL.com today that includes this picture

Story here

Bad piping or not, I still think the Panthers color scheme is great. No one else really combines those colors, I think it looks great. Panther logo is not the best, but I do enjoy the Stick/Palm cross shoulder logo. Just as a shoulder logo though. If they got rid of the piping I think the jerseys would be great, guess thats just me.

Every time I see the Canucks jersey the worse it looks. Moreso the whites. Removing the “Vancouver” and adding some green to the logo would go a long way, but I think they need to increse the stripes, it looks too bland but not clean enough. It just seems like its supposed to have more stripes. Looks like a high school team jersey with a modern logo slapped on it. They either need to go full tilt old school (their originals/last years alts) or make it sync up better with the current logo. Its a weird mish mash.

Favs:

NFL – Buccaneers, or Rams home blue jerseys with gold pants.

MLB – Yanks or Tigers

NBA – Probably the Suns (I like both the orange and the purple).

NHL – Not really up on current NHL unis. Always a fan of the North Stars/Dallas stars jerseys in the white or the green.

NCAA football – UCLA powder blues.

League favorites…

NFL – Green Bay Packers

MLB – Cleveland Indians

NBA – Chicago Bulls

NHL – New York Rangers

Not uncommon in that era. Helmets weren’t yet mandatory on the bases.

NFL – Packers, the color scheme is better than the Browns, otherwise I’d pick them
MLB – Dodgers, just the perfect baseball uni, the colors are all right together
NBA – Bulls, fantastic, especially if they’d make the old cursive Chicago jerseys an alt
NHL – Rangers, just classic
NCAA FB – Ohio State, I’m a Buckeye, I admit my bias
NCAA BB – UConn, I love their gray SOD unis
EPL – Arsenal, great kit, the trademark red with white sleeves is excellent
MLS – Chivas USA

I don’t know why, but I always get annoyed when people refer to hockey pants as “breezers” here. I grew up in Maine playing hockey and I’ve never heard hockey pants called “breezers”. I guess it’s a regional thing, but they’re hockey pants. Not shorts, pants.

wall of beef, if you think those Panther colors are unique you must be unaware of the mighty Phoooooooobia. They adopted the color scheme way back in 1917.

NFL- Green Bay
NBA- Boston
MLB- Detroit
NHL- Pittsburgh

NCAA FB- Penn State

There are a few teams in the NHL’s history to use the “Florida Colors”. The Colorado Rockies and Kansas City Scouts come to mind. Perhaps their colors are the reason why they were so short-lived?

I am watching the college football skills competition, and i never realized before just how bad the Oregon state sports bra looks.

http://www.yvensonbe...

The Oakland A’s single A affiliate in the NWL, the Vancouver Canadians, unveiled their new logo last week. They ditched the blue, added some grey and tweaked the lettering. The main change is the change from the C by adding an apostrophe S.

Looks sharp in my eyes, though the new uniforms haven’t been revealed yet. One problem that’s plagued the C’s, based from what I saw last season, is their inability to wear their socks properly. Here’s hoping there’s an end to the pajama pants.

Hmmm….

NFL: Tampa Bay/Cleveland
NBA: Atlanta/LA Lakers (White Home)

Chicago

Granted, the White Sox are kind of bland but they don’t counteract how good the Bulls, Blackhawks, Cubs, Bears and even the Fire look. Oh, by the way, I’m going to include Notre Dame in the greater Chicago area.

Maybe I missed the boat here, but anyone know what’s up with “casual Saturday” in college basketball?

Today’s Harvard/Princeton Men’s Basketball game had home Princeton wearing black, while Harvard wore white on the road. ESPNU’s announcers said it was because Harvard had a game last night and didn’t have time to do laundry. What, they couldn’t borrow Princeton’s facilities for 2 hours before the night game?

Jerico said:

Coaches v. Cancer weekend, meaning many coaches are wearing tennis or basketball shoes.

On a hockey note. I am a freshman at Michigan State University and I went to my first hockey game last night to watch the defending National Champs in action. Interestingly enough, MSU is outfitted by Nike yet goaltender Jeff Lerg wears part RBK pads, including his blocker and glove. This picture tells the tale the best with both RBK symbols apparent as well as the Nike stick and jersey, with Vaughn custom leg pads.

Another note of interest. Lerg measures in at only 5′6″ and 155lbs

They are doing the Coaches for Cancer thing. The coaches around the Country are wearing sneakers and some dress down while others wear their suits.

NFL: New York Giants
NHL: Boston Bruins

MLB: Toronto Blue Jays
NBA: Sacramento Kings

I’m curious to know what everyone’s LEAST favorite is (or would most like to see changed). I had a bunch of links, but my post disappeared

MLB: Baltimore Orioles and the San Diego Padres
NFL: Buffalo Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals
NBA: Three headed monster of the Warriors, Bobcats and Wizards
NHL: Anaheim Ducks

I don’t know why, but I always get annoyed when people refer to hockey pants as “breezers” here. I grew up in Maine playing hockey and I’ve never heard hockey pants called “breezers”. I guess it’s a regional thing, but they’re hockey pants. Not shorts, pants.

That’s odd … I get annoyed when people refer to things like this as pants. Pants. Not pants. I don’t know what else they should be called, but pants isn’t it.

MLB: St. Louis Cardinals
NFL: Oakland Raiders (though they haven’t been good in years)
NBA: Boston Celtics (I wish they would use the throwback regularly.)
NHL: Tie — Montreal Canadiens, Chicago Blackhawks

I grew up on the rinks of northern/mid michigan… i heard breezers/pants pretty equally, but i had a lot of canadian coaches, so it my not be a fair representation.

MLB: Yankees whites
NFL: GreenBay greens
NHL: Blackhawks reds
NBA: Celtics not-black
NCAA FB: Michigan blue
NCAA Hockey: LSSU blues
CHL hockey: Ottawa 67’s

Hockey pants are hockey pants. They’re neither shorts nor breezers. Consider it an endearing quirk. :-)

Speaking of the NHL, all of the jerseys with the bib stripes are horrible. I assume that’s where the jersey panels are stitched together. I don’t see why Reebok didn’t just change the panel size because it also screwed up the shoulder panels/designs/colors.

Favorites:
MLB – Red Sox
NFL – Packers
NBA – Bulls
NHL – Wild

Least Favorites:
MLB – BLUE Jays
NFL – Vikings (yeah – a Vikes fan voted for the Pack and against the Vikes)
NBA – Mavericks
NHL – Ducks

Sorry, but I threw out the likes of the Yankees, Colts, Celtics, and Red Wings. Personally, I think you need to have more than white and one other color — they’re just to bland/blah for me.

Since some of us are listing our least favorite, I thought I’d add mine in:

MLB: formerly the D-Backs original entire uniform lineup, now probably the Rockies and Blue Jays

NFL: Falcons, Cardinals, and Seahawks’ monochrome

NBA: nothing grosses me out too much, so I’ll just say the Suns and Kings

NHL: Thrashers and the Banana Slugs

They are doing the Coaches for Cancer thing. The coaches around the Country are wearing sneakers and some dress down while others wear their suits.

Yeah, I figured that, eventually, but I was stoked to see the likes of Jay Wright (Villanova) in warmups and Jeff Bzdelik (Colorado) in a golf shirt. But, either way, that’s cool.

Agreed. I knew Iowa was based off the Steelers, but seeing the block numbers on Super Bowl XXX highlights only reinforced it.

I’ve got the Wings-Bruins game on now and it is a thing of beauty. It makes me even more pissed off that the Wings get stuck playing the likes of the Predators, Sharks and Blue Jackets 4 times a season and only get to play each Original 6 team ONCE. Where’s the decency in this goddamn world?

Yeah.. I just watch that too. I still don’t know what makes me sicker – Neil O’Donnell’s spectacular completions to Larry Brown or just how simply beautiful those Steelers threads used to be.

LEAST FAVORITE ENSEMBLES
MLB: Toronto Blue Jays. Not enough blue for a team called the Blue Jays. Get blue hats, please. While you’re at it, let your home uniforms have a passing resemblance to the roadies. A common number font would be a good start. And nice try with the flashback uniform. White at home, losers. Dishonorable mention goes to the Mets, Padres, and Astros for essentially turning their “official” road grays into sparingly-used anti-clash road alternates. Exhibits A, B, and C why alternate jersey regulation could be a good thing in the majors.
NFL: Buffalo Bills. If I didn’t know any better, I’d think the RBK Edge system leaked its way into the NFL through these uniforms. Rectangular shoulders that scream, “Look at this, ain’t it tacky?”, stupid socks (either have a nice stripe job, or have one color on top of white, please), and a sensual overload of almost-like colors (white and silver, royal and navy, in addition to red) make their current uniforms the worst. Throwback alternates remind us of how look they used to look. Dishonorable mention goes to the Bengals, if only for the consistently inconsistent side panel. Above the armpit? Below? Why not change its color so we can’t tell?
NBA: Phoenix Suns. Under-arm side panels are rarely good, but my G-d, those full-length side panels are atrocious. Gray does not look good next to purple or orange. Last names would look better straight or vertically arched. The radial arch they have now gets clownish even with seven letters (Barbosa). What if they had Skitishvili? I’m getting skittish…Dishonorable mention to the Mavericks, which must have the Suns’ template due to their surname woes. Dishonorable mention revoked from the Pacers because they don’t have pinstripes anymore.
NHL: I could flag any team with upper right front jersey numbers. I don’t like the look because it makes the jersey too full, and can leave no room for a Stanley Cup or memorial patch. If you insist, why not move the number down to the front right thigh? For argument’s sake, let’s roast the Buffaslug Sabres for starting the damned trend, for having a terrible crest, having stupid shorts/pants/breezers, and for the pain and suffering caused by last year’s modern/throwback mismatch. Dishonorable mention to the Islanders (their Franken-jerseys make them the Buffalo Bills of the NHL), the Ducks (that word mark makes for a really weak “crest”), and all teams with un-wraparound sock stripes.

NFL: Tampa Bay/Cleveland
NBA: Atlanta/LA Lakers (White Home)
NHL: Buffalo Sabres
MLB: Yankees/Lancaster Barnstormers (minor league)
NCAA BB: UCLA (without the different colored “C”)
NCAA FB: Michigan/Florida

by buffalo sabres, i hope you meant the old jerseys

I like the color scheme (navy/gold/silver) but I’m not in love with the design. My favorite hockey uniform ever would have to be the Charleston Chiefs from “Slap Shot.” At the same time, I’m not a huge hockey fan, its just my opinion from an on-looker

The jerseys are not bad, its the logo on the jersey that makes it god awful.

Favs:
NFL: Tie between the Titans, Panthers, And Eagles. I love the titans colors scheme, but i think they should change to the light blue for their normal home jersey, and change the yoke on the white jersey to navy. I also love the Panther’s color scheme, and their pants striping is the best. and i love the Eagle’s pants template. i love the thick black/slate gray on the midnight green with the white piping in between. Close fourth is new orleans, they have an awesome color scheme.

MLB: Tigers. Great color scheme, and i love the old english font.
NBA: Suns. Nice template, and Excluding the orange alternate, i don’t think that the orange is overdone. If they replaced the orange in the color scheme to mettalic gold, it would look better.

NCAA Football: Texas. Classic template, and a simple, but great, color scheme. their all white road uniforms are the best in football, even better than anything in the NFL.

least favorites:

NFL: Dallas. They can’t get their colors straight. Also Oakland. Black and silver just looks bad without another color

MLB: San Diego. I hate the urine colored home jersey

NBA: San Antonio. see Oakland raiders.

NCAA football: Oregon state, horrible template. i actually like the way Oregon mixes up the pants, jerseys and helmets, but they need a better template. one similar to the Tennessee titans might work.

Favorites:
NFL: Washington Redskins/ Green Bay Packers
NBA: NY Knicks
MLB: Boston Red Sox
NHL: Montreal Canadiens
College Football: UCLA/ USC
College Basketball: University of Maryland (gotta love that piping)/ UNC

Least Favorites:
NFL: Seattle Seahawks
NBA: Charlotte Bobcats
MLB: Toronto Blue Jays/ Tamapa Bay Rays (booooring)
NHL: Florida Panthers
College Football: OREGON DUCKS!!!
NCAA Basketball: Kansas State

Least Favorites
NHL: Mighty ducks(yes, i know they are not them any more)
NFL: Carolina panthers
NBA: New Orleans
MLB: The Yankees, not the ugliest uniforms but my hate for team make them the ugliest.

I would like to hear Bryan’s favorites and least favorites.

Compare my reaction to the Suns to yours. Interesting, isn’t it? Just proves that athletics aesthetics is an inexact science, and that there really is no ultimate authority. (Not even Mr. Lukas.)
In other news, wow, this is a slow day for sports news and for Uni Watching. And it will only get slower after the Super Bowl…

just got back from sheep station, so to any UWers i met there, cheers again…twas nice to put some faces with SNs….OH…im diggin the Mets By The Numbers book i picked up there too! good stuff…

mike (engle)…you listed teams whose uni’s you dislike…care to maybe elaborate a bit on why?

the list of uni’s i dislike is hard to narrow down but i’ll give it a shot in the 4 major sports, with coll. bb & fb for good measure

MLB-nationals (home and away, but not alt)…pods sand-piss…astros pinstripes
NFL-anything cincinnati wears
NBA-(all alts, but not all throwbacks)…worst is black and gold wizards
NHL-buffaslugs
C-hoop-ucla (with the yellow c)
C-football-oregon state sportsbravers

I’ll just push the sarcasm button for you…
For the record, the original question asked for the best and worst uniform sets, asking to take into account the home jersey, the away, and any alternates. This is what makes the Blue Jays’ uniforms terrible. Almost no common elements from one style to the other. Totally disjointed. Because of that, I didn’t mention the Wizards. Their New Orleans Saints wanna-be uniforms are TERRIBLE, but their regulars aren’t that bad. The Suns got my Golden Razzie for a consistently putrid set.
So, you ask, why didn’t I criticize the Cowboys for their lack of matching? Because Mr. Lukas has a whole article on that. Besides, at least the Cowboys uniforms say, “I’m a Dallas Cowboy,” while the Bills uniforms merely complete the wardrobe malfunction trinity, along with the Go Daddy in court girl and Janet Jackson.

And my least favorites:

Baseball: Astros, Diamondbacks, and Blue Jays.
Football: Falcons and Titans.
Basketball: Hawks (ripoff of the Arizona Wildcats), Wizards
Hockey: Most of them. The Thrashers, Panthers, Islanders, Ducks and Oilers stand out as particularly bad.
Bonus: Paris Saint-Germain in France and Ajax from The Netherlands. And Texas from Texas.

YES! I KNEW the tri-color paneling (for a lack of a better term) of the Suns reminded me of something! That’s it. Not a great soccer look, but an even worse basketball look due to a lack of basketball sleeves. Extra turd points go to Ajax because their name letters are white with a thin red border. So names can be long enough to get truncated on the sides. So SZCZERBIAK might read ZERB or something like that. A picture demonstrating this was an Open Thread a while back. Chalk that one up as a design flaw…

Alright so we are doing least favorites?

Buffalo Bills period, end of list. There is no team even close. Not even the really sweet throwback/alts can mitigate the nastiness of their home/road combo.

Wow, so this comment section has devolved into a forum for people to list their favorite uniforms. This is the kind of crap that has been plaguing the Creamer boards recently.

Is this really the best place to list your favorite teams / jerseys?

Adidas and FFF has unveiled a new RED jersey for Euro 2008. This could be the first national team wearing an alternate jersey since US Soccer playing in red Adi, circa 1979. No pics, sorry.

I saw France was wearing these when visiting Spain this week in a friendly game. So, we had France dressed up as Spain (red jerseys, blue shorts) and Spain dressed up as somebody else.

Somebody smack the FFF and remind them what their national team’s nickname is.
