I just remembered, Rolen also wore the baby blue throwbacks in Philly. That will make him 3 for 3. Has any other current player been forced to wear three different powder blue throwbacks?

You know, not to nitpick, but I’m not sure if Rolen ever actually wore a baby (powder) blue throwback when he was on the Phillies.

Before he was drafted they just changed to the current iteration of their jerseys, and the whole
throback craze didn’t really start until after he had been traded.

To be honest, the first time I can actually recall from memory them doing a turn back the clock night and wearing the throwbacks was in the final season of the Vet – however, even then that would’ve been the white/maroon jerseys.

Phillies absolutely wore blue throwbacks – on the road vs. Baltimore a couple of times a few years back. Pretty sure this was post Rolen trade, but I could be wrong.

I’ve followed Rolen throughout his career. (went to the same HS.) I’m almost positive I remember him wearing them.

Light Blue pants look good – but its currently become the Titans regular road set-up.

Gold pants with White jersey and White helmet is one-of-a-kind – UNIQUELY San Diegan !!!

So I made two changes to the Chargers’ away uniforms. Here’s the one I really like, without the white stripes on the pants, and with new socks. I’m not as fond of this one, even though I originally thought it would look really cool.

How about GOLD/Yellow pants with the white jerseys ???? Get that cool 1970’s vibe.

That might even look good with the Powder Blue Jerseys. however, keep WHITE pants with the Navy jerseys.

Christopher Cross in 1980 (”Ride Like the Wind”) wore an Earl Campell/Oilers #34 jersey often in concert – I believe he was from Texas, and Mick Jagger wore a green #21 John Sciarra Eagles jersey once in a Philly Stadium concert. I think Axel Rose w Guns and Roses did the same (maybe not a Sciarra jersey) later in the 1980’s.

Easton is about 40 miles north of Philadelphia.

And is the hometown of…..Larry Holmes, if memory serves.

There’s no hard evidence, but it’s conceivable that this is how John ended up with an Easton High School jersey.

This isn’t exactly uniform related, but folk-rocker Al Stewart used to alter the lyrics to his song “Year of the Cat”, replacing a reference to Peter Lorre with the name of a local sports star: “You go strolling through the crowd like Michael Irvin, contemplating a crime” is the way I’ve heard him sing it in Texas.
