Proviso East Sleeves I was a member of the first Proviso East - Maywood, Illinois - basketball team to wear sleeves - 1958-59. A teammate was Jim Johnson, current defensive guru for the Phildelphia Eagles. The reason: New coach Tom Millikin had worn them in High School (Pinckneyville, Illinois, under the legendary coach Duster Thomas) when they won the State Championship in 1948. Millikin is the only one to win State Championships in Illinois both as a player and as a coach (Proviso East, 1969).
NBA sleeves: 1946-47 Boston Celtics.

Note that the shirt is tucked in, so it can't be a warmup shirt.
Mitchell % Ness sold a remake of this jersey about 3 years ago. I bought one on EBAY, along with a Seattle College jerseys (Elgin Baylor) remake - both cool sleeved basketball jerseys.

I always dug Evansville's sleeved jerseys, and I never understood why Georgetown in the early 1980's did not wear sleeved jerseys when the ENTIRE TEAM would wear t-shirts under their tanktop basketball jerseys. wear sleeves and be done with it already !!!
click on the 9th picture from this set of uk practice photos from today at the music city bowl. wesley woodyard's helmet is full of "pride stickers" of the state of kentucky. uk has consistently used small wildcat paws for their pride stickers.
Most colleges practice in a separate set of equipment than what they use for games. My guess is that the pride stickers in question are awarded for effort and performance during practice while the paws are reserved for gameday.

What I find to be very odd is Rafael Little (#22) is wearing 2 backplates on his shoulder pads, one over the other... I have never seen this before!!
Remember our discussion a while back about how the tigers logo on their jersey was different from the one on their hat? Well I just found another team who has the same problem. The White sox. Look at the Back part of the S jersey, it goes all the way and touches the top left part of the O. Now look at the part on the hat there is a gap there!
I work for the Tigers, and there is really no "problem," they choose to have it that way. I mean, I think it's pretty safe to say that someone has noticed the difference and it wasn't some kind of major mistake. The interesting thing to me is that for a few years they had the D with the tiger crawling through it as their primary logo, but it wasn't used on very many things. Including the caps and jerseys.
He finally got to the rink at 7:05. He wore a player’s skates, Tim Peel’s ref pants (Tim is about 5’10” tall, Ryan is about 6'2"), a helmet that was way too small and had no visor, shin pads that you could see right thru his way too short pants, a jersey that had no # and two right elbow pads. I would have paid money to have seen the game.
Thanks for all that great info! I was only half paying attention to the game, but when I heard something about a linseman losing a jersey, I had to email Paul as quick as I could.

What was with the stitching on Colt McCoy's left shoulder? Lucky jersey? Can anyone get a screen capture? It was that way the entire game.
Speaking of Yankee jersey shenanigans, does anybody here watch Curb Your Enthusiasm? I saw the episode last night when Larry was chasing around town looking for his Joe Pepitone jersey. He found two. Those Joe Pepitone jerseys were egregious. The 2 was thicker than the 5, and the two had a diagonal bar, which is wholly inaccurate.
thats such a great show
