The Houston Rockets are wearing throwbacks from the 80s and early 90s tonight. Odd though that they are at home in the Toyota Center but they're wearing the old red road jerseys with "Houston" on them instead of the home whites with "Rockets" on the front. I loved these unis. Brings back great memories of the Hakeem days and the two championships.
Are only teams that have won championships wearing the throwbacks this week?
teams wearing the retros:

During Heritage Week and additional Hardwood Classics Nights throughout the season, the nine teams that will wear retro uniforms are the:

Boston Celtics (1956-57 Road)
Chicago Bulls (1995-96 Second Road)
Detroit Pistons (1957-58 Home)
Golden State Warriors (1974-75 Road)
Houston Rockets (1994-95 Home)
Los Angeles Lakers (1987-88 Home)
Miami Heat (1988-89 Home)
New York Knicks (1972-73 Home), and
Philadelphia 76ers (1982-83 Home).

56-57 champ: Celtics def. Hawks
57-58 champ: St. Louis Hawks def. Celtics
72-73 champ: Knicks def. Lakers
74-75 champ: Warriors def. Bullets
82-83 champ: 76ers def. Lakers
87-88 champ: Lakers def. Pistons
88-89 champ: Pistons def. Lakers
94-95 champ: Rockets def. Magic
95-96 champ: Bulls def. Sonic
And yet the Rockets did not wear their 94'-95' home jerseys. They wore the road jerseys for a home game. I guess they just got onboard with the Texans for "Battle Red" week.

Well, I checked pressbox.mlb.com, and guess what?

The 2008 Opening Day logo is the same as the 2007 Opening Day logo...and the 2006 Opening Day logo.

Talk about going El Cheapo...
Why do we need an "opening day" logo at all? Sometimes I don't understand why every single event always needs a logo.
The Winter Meetings logo this year cracked me up.
In this case, I think it would be understandable for people to get upset. And I don’t know much about the Muslim religion or the history of the red cross as used on Inter jerseys, but perhaps some thought is required before immediately saying that this story and lawsuit are absurd. It is at least arguable.

Then time for some radical changes in soccer uniforms including a number of other big clubs (Bacelona's crest). I find it bizarre that someone gets so upset over what has become (in this context) an abstract symbol when compared to a derogatory symbol like Chief Wahoo. Even with that or the name "Redskins" I think a lawsuit is over the top.

Soccer--especially Italian soccer--has so much more to be concerned about with hooligans and racism.

I believe that is because the crecent is represented on the Turkish flag. So, I suppose you could say its a 'representation of a representation.'

Nope. Even though the history of the crescent (and star) are complex, the crescent is clearly a Muslim symbol in those examples. It is on the Turkish flag--and many, many other flags--because Turkey is a Muslim country.
That's what I meant.....the Turkish flag is "represented" on the Turkish National Teams jersey. In turn, the Turkish flag has a representation of the Muslim crecscent on it, due to it being a muslim country. I believe I could've been more clear.
If anyone has Google Earth available, do a search for 'Los Angeles Coliseum' and please tell me what the hell that mini-football field is doing there.
That satellite photo must have been taken in the days leading up to one of the epic Lingerie Bowls. They did indeed film those classic PPV shows on a narrow 50-yard field at the Coliseum.

I would suggest a column on those uniforms, but I don't think one could be written that was SFW.

I got that one beat. I own a game-worn jersey from the Mill City All-Americans of the NECBL (New England Collegiate Baseball League). Same age level as the Cape Cod League, but with players less likely to go pro.
