Why do we need an “opening day” logo at all? Sometimes I don’t understand why every single event always needs a logo.

In this case, I think it would be understandable for people to get upset. And I don’t know much about the Muslim religion or the history of the red cross as used on Inter jerseys, but perhaps some thought is required before immediately saying that this story and lawsuit are absurd. It is at least arguable.

Then time for some radical changes in soccer uniforms including a number of other big clubs (Bacelona’s crest). I find it bizarre that someone gets so upset over what has become (in this context) an abstract symbol when compared to a derogatory symbol like Chief Wahoo. Even with that or the name “Redskins” I think a lawsuit is over the top.

Soccer–especially Italian soccer–has so much more to be concerned about with hooligans and racism.

I believe that is because the crecent is represented on the Turkish flag. So, I suppose you could say its a ‘representation of a representation.’

Nope. Even though the history of the crescent (and star) are complex,the crescent is clearly a Muslim symbol in those examples. It is on the Turkish flag–and many, many other flags–because Turkey is a Muslim country.

That’s what I meant…..the Turkish flag is “represented” on the Turkish National Teams jersey. In turn, the Turkish flag has a representation of the Muslim crecscent on it, due to it being a muslim country. I believe I could’ve been more clear.

If anyone has Google Earth available, do a search for ‘Los Angeles Coliseum’ and please tell me what the hell that mini-football field is doing there.

That satellite photo must have been taken in the days leading up to one of the epic Lingerie Bowls. They did indeed film those classic PPV shows on a narrow 50-yard field at the Coliseum.

I would suggest a column on those uniforms, but I don’t think one could be written that was SFW.

Love the New Jersey Jackals jersey. I had no idea people owned Can-Am league jerseys.

I got that one beat. I own a game-worn jersey from the Mill City All-Americans of the NECBL (New England Collegiate Baseball League). Same age level as the Cape Cod League, but with players less likely to go pro.
