Is it possible that the kid wore an average amount of eye black, and after crying following a tough playoff loss, it smeared down his face? No, that wouldn’t be as funny as taking a pot shot at a high schooler. If Gonzaga’s Morrison is young enough to cry after a loss (and young enough not to grow a full mustache yet), then this kid is, too.

I don’t mean to continue the flogging of this dead horse, but that kid had way too much black on his face for that to be caused by him wiping his tears away. Properly applied eye black will not smear that dark, that far down his face.

There was nothing in Bryan’s statement that made fun of the kid for crying. It only made fun of him because of the eye black that was all over his face. Which is stupid in and of itself, because it’s EYE BLACK, not FACE BLACK.

The great thing about the democracy of a blog forum is that every voice gets to be heard. In my case, my internet was down most of the weekend, and I just got to see this post, and the uproar today. But even though it is your blog, don’t expect that playing teacher and saying “Okay, I get it” is going to cut off the dissent.

Other readers want you to know that they, too, disagreed with the tone of the post. I am one of them. If you cut it off at 100 dissenting posts and say I get it, you might not allow yourself to realize that there could be 200 dissenting readers, or 1000 dissenting readers. Whether you think it’s PC run amok, whether you think a high school kid is fair game, whatever you think – if you care about your readers, you should pay attention to that.

And if you don’t care about your readers – that’s fine, too. It’s your blog.

Dunno about those, but the classic-look, number-only “ordinary weather cream-white upper garment” is pretty good-looking. I wish the other teams’ throwbacks were this good.
