Why figure skating today? Because there’s little to no chance you’ll find appropriate Halloween costumes in any other sports this weekend. Have fun, be safe, and remember, striped socks go with everything. –Vince
At least the helmets match Fresno State. Rutgers should have gone with a black helmet. Speaking of helmets, I wonder what gettup Nike U (Oregon) will be wearing today. Any bets?
I love the Rutgers’ all-black duds, but when the announcer said, “You know if they’re wearing all black, it’s a big game!”, I nearly lost it. How the hell did he make that connection? If you can’t say anything intelligent, don’t say anything at all. That would leave us in complete silence (except for the stadium noise), which I wouldn’t mind.
I like the scarlet helmets (in keeping with their name), but I hope they keep the black unis. The numbers on the back of their jerseys are too big, but their font is ten times better than WVU’s.
Going to game 3 tonight. The best thing about that is I don’t have to listen to Buck and McCarver totally ruin the game by talking their usual crap. I also don’t have to listen to them suck off the Red Sox.
Are the Red Sox the new Yankees? I think so.
Also, just noticed some FNOB in the WVU/Rutgers game. Mountaineer special teamer J.T. Thomas was definatly rocking the FNOB just a minute ago…no screengrab though :(
its not a patch. Poor choice of words on my part. Its just like a gray area directly over the thigh pad. I’ve never seen anything like it, though this is the first time I’ve been privledged to see WVU on tv this year.

Forgive me if this has been brought up before, but, surely to god i’m not the only one annoyed at the rampant “All State” logocreep on the goalpost nets on field goals/extra points on a lot of TV games now?
If anyone else is watching the WVU/Rutgers game, you should know what i’m talking about.
I know this isn’t a *new* form of logo creep per se, but that doesn’t make it any less annoying.
I took his comment as “go back and rewatch the game before you post something like that on here…maybe I misunderstood…either way that was just an example on my part, i have read others as you said that I feel are the same way…sometimes I have questions and dont even bother to put them up here b/c I dont feel like reading comments like “that was covered on 11/26/03 go back and read it” or ” stop bothering us with things that have already been answered”

I personally have no problem with the Allstate goal nets, it connects well with their “In Good Hands” ad slogan. I also don’t consider it to be logo creep, since it’s obviously an advertisement, and a well-placed one at that.

Not only is it advertising, but it’s a fundraiser for the schools. Allstate pays them $100 for every extra point and $300 for every field goal kicked into the nets throughout the year. Of course, that doesn’t excuse the fact that they are horribly annoying.
I see your point…but, at the same time, could one not make that argument for ANY instance of logo creep then?
For me logo creep is logo placement designed to be more subtle, like the swoosh on a Nike jersey. It’s the uni equivalent of product placement, it’s there but it’s not blatent (unless we’re talking about the scene in Wayne’s World, but that’s comedy). The Allstate Good Hands net is, in my eyes, the same as Budweiser buying the rooftop space across Sheffield Avenue.

Well, if the fundraising goes to something worthwhile and not the already bloated athletic dept. budget then that’s a-ok in my book.

Yep, the money goes into the general scholarship funds.
Oregon wearing its “traditional” solid green/black outfit at home against the Trojans, with the green helmets.
And Mississippi State is wearing its all-white outfit on the road at Kentucky, which means striped socks. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again . . . those stripes need to be thicker (they only have two rather thin maroon stripes at the tops of their socks)

As Lee Corso would say, “Not so fast my friend!” It looks like Oregon is sporting green face masks for this game. Correct me if I am wrong, but don’t they usually wear black masks (or at least very dark green masks) on the green bonnets? Leave it to The O to change at least one thing every week.

I don’t think I can tolerate listening to these goobers calling the game on FSN long enough to see what you’re talking about. I’ll just take your word for it. :)
Is it just my eyes, or does the Republic Plaza’s lighting job look like a subliminal ad for Coors Light?
Ehh…opposite direction and one too many peaks. As much as I am in favor of pointing out shameful logo creeps, this just seems like a reference the the Rocky Mountains. Maybe they can turn that into a primo cap logo in the future.

No freaking kidding. Is that Jesse “The Body” Ventura doing color commentary?

Actually, normally at home, the Ducks wear green jerseys with black shoulders and black pants. Today they’re wearing the black jerseys with green shoulders and green pants. I hadn’t noticed the facemasks, I’ll have to check that out. And USC looks classic as always. Ah, to not have to choose what to wear.
In the Colorado/Texas Tech game earlier today it was interesting to see that TT had old-style numbers on the backs of their helmets (similar to what the Denver Broncos wear) but the newer numbers on jerseys (similar to what the Atlanta Falcons wear). No screen cap.

I’d be a lot happier of Allstate paid more money to people who got screwed after Katrina. I was a little surprised to see the ad on the nets during an LSU game considering many Louisiana residents are suing Allstate.
Watching the Cocktail Party on CBS (yeah, you’re not supposed to call it that anymore, but what the hell), and I was saddened (but not surprised) that UGA VI’s jersey has a Nike swoosh. Are you kidding me? Logo creep on the dog’s jersey?
I was just flipping channels and I caw some jack-ass figure skater dressed up as Frankenstein. WTF? Attention Figure-Skating: You have ceased being anything remotely related to a sport.
As they do every time the Florida-Georgia game is aired, they showed the 92-yard pass from Buck Belue to Lindsay Scott that got Georgia the win in ‘80. As many times as I’ve seen that play, I never noticed until now that Scott was wearing one of those practice jersey-looking things that quite a few Georgia players seemed to wear during the late ’70s and early ’80s (no trim on the sleeves, no name on his back) when he made his legendary catch.
Clemson breaks out the purple pants once or twice or three times a season. They mix & match orange, white, and purple jerseys and pants. Just stating the facts, though I think they should stick to the all-whites.
UGA’s Lindsay Scott was wearing what was called a tear-away jersey, since outlawed.
Rutgers has never worn primarily black football jerseys in the history of the program. However, unlike some teams, Florida State for one, black has always been a secondary color (along with white) to go with the dominant red. They have in recent years had an alternate black basketball uniform. Black would be the obvious choice for a 3rd color jersey for any of their teams.
UGA wears black shoes with black shoestrings, but today was the first time I’ve seen QB Matthew Stafford wear white shoestrings. I liked it. Probably why they beat Florida.
In case anyone’s interested, Georgia’s Thomas Flowers changed numbers from 29 to 6 for today’s Gator-stomping to honor Kregg Lumpkin, who underwent potentially season ending knee surgery last week.
Fogger’s always liked to pitch in the blacks for some reason, even before the streak. Aaron Cook is pitching game 4, and he usually prefers the white pinstripe vests but will concede to a streak when necessary.

I just checked the AP photo archive. The green helmets have had a very dark green facemask all season. On some pics it looks black, but it’s definitely green.

I thought the same thing. Looks just like Coors, but looks different enough to get away with it.
Does the B on Mike Lowell’s batting helmet appear to be off-centered or tilted?
I don’t have the ability to screen capture this, but it doesn’t look even/straight.
Dice-K’s B is a little low too, but more-centered than Lowell’s. I have been away for a while. Did anyone notice that Terry Francona was wearing the road jersey under his smock for the games at Boston and that Jonny Papplebum is wearing last year’s hat with the gray underbill?
I know it’s technically not uniforms, but is it normal for Arizona State to paint the numbers on the 50 yard line maroon, while the other numbers are white?
No pictures, just an eyewitness (me), but Manny Ramirez and Jason Varitek both had World Series logos on the necks of their mock turtlenecks, centered with nothing else. Most of the other players had a Red Sox word-mark with the batter logo instead.
Sorry gang, about the post that I guess I started. Anyway, I was working, so I had to have cap locks on. For some stupid reason, they make us type everything that way at work, I have no idea why. stupid I know. The worst part is when I type normal, I can’t remember to cap anthing that needs to be, I’m used to it being there already, LOL.
As for the comment, I was just in a hurry telling someone to rewatch the game to get the grab of the great play that DB made, that’s all. We have these things pop up all the time on here, and I was just trying to make a point that it was paint. It was kind of rude, wasn’t meant that way.
Actually I’m the one should apologize…just felt like you were telling the poster to “watch again” before posting…i now understand what you were saying (BuckeyeMike) and it was totally my fault…I didnt mean to cause such an uproar with my 1st post ever…good luck to your Buckeyes (i think) beating the Oregon Nike Ducks for the National Championship :)…and yes, i may sometimes have questions but I def “get it”…

Green with a square head. Friggin’ bolts sticking out of his neck. On ice skates. Hopefully, this clears up that he was NOT dressed up as Gene Wilder in a lab coat.
You used to see lots of pitchers wear jackets while running the bases, sometimes even in the summer heat. These days it’s rare to see an AL pitcher run the bases. You see it much more in the NL.
I did a double take as well when I saw Dice K wearing a jacket, then it came back to me.

The more I look at the original picture of the ice dancers, the more I like the outfit. The guy’s outfit looks dorky. But the other outfit…beeeeea-uty!

On the week’s subject of wacky nameplates, Iowa WR Derrell Johnson-Koulianos’ nameplate reads “J. – Koulianos”
The period followed by the hyphen looks really odd.

Watching the Cocktail Party on CBS (yeah, you’re not supposed to call it that anymore, but what the hell), and I was saddened (but not surprised) that UGA VI’s jersey has a Nike swoosh. Are you kidding me? Logo creep on the dog’s jersey?

#64 by KU Student on 10.27.07 7:26 pm |
Rutgers has never worn primarily black football jerseys in the history of the program. However, unlike some teams, Florida State for one, black has always been a secondary color (along with white) to go with the dominant red. They have in recent years had an alternate black basketball uniform. Black would be the obvious choice for a 3rd color jersey for any of their teams.
#65 by DCM on 10.27.07 7:28 pm |
UGA wears black shoes with black shoestrings, but today was the first time I’ve seen QB Matthew Stafford wear white shoestrings. I liked it. Probably why they beat Florida.

Fogger’s always liked to pitch in the blacks for some reason, even before the streak. Aaron Cook is pitching game 4, and he usually prefers the white pinstripe vests but will concede to a streak when necessary.

Did people already comment on the new Lancaster JetHawks logo and uniforms?:

Seems like it was motivated to tie the team closer to Boston’s color scheme, much like the Portland Sea Dogs did a couple of years ago.
Can’t say I much like baseball caps without any letter to identify the home city.

You used to see lots of pitchers wear jackets while running the bases, sometimes even in the summer heat. These days it’s rare to see an AL pitcher run the bases. You see it much more in the NL.
I did a double take as well when I saw Dice K wearing a jacket, then it came back to me.
