Regarding the Cowboys bicentennial helmet.

“Truth be known, Uni Watch kinda likes this move, at least when viewed in a vacuum. But in the context of all the “America’s Team” nonsense, it’s just another example of the institutional hubris that makes it so easy — so necessary — to hate the Cowboys.”

The context of the Stripe was NOT as “America’s Team”. That name was invented by NFL Films, not the Cowboys, in 1979. So the context of the red stripe was solely as a celebration of the bicentennial. If you like the move when viewed “in a vacuum”, you should also like it even better in its original context.

Also, Staubach was not part of the “America’s Team” nonsense. He retired in ‘79. Don’t taint him with that crap.

Good finds. And to clarify on whether that #5 or #15 on Celtic, its actually #25, free kick expert Shunsuke Nakamura. I actually like the Champions League looks better for each team. For me it makes Celtic look more old school and makes the Rossoneri look just plain better.

How does it make Celtic look old school when they wear a kit they never wore before? If you want Celtic to lok old School, you need to ditch teh numbers on teh back altogether, and just go with numbers on the shorts

I realize thats not their old school look, I was just saying it gives them a general vintage look, not Celtic specific vintage. Especially when compared to what they wear in Scotland, where it looks too new age for my likings.

He incredibly catches a line drive in the final game of the season against the Twins. It’s one or two batters before Lou Collins’ deep fly to Ken Griffey, Jr. to end the game. I still hear Wally Holland exclaim, “That ball had ‘Base Hit’ written all over it.”
