I'm surprised I haven't seen any mention of it here, but the San Jose Sharks unveiled a new logo today. I can't find any signs of the new uniforms, but at least we know one thing: the tape finally wraps all the way around the stick! sjsharks.com has more details.

Very simple and classy. I especially like the "H" used on the caps.
I strongly, strongly disagree. It does nothing to benefit the team. The value of a team brand -- the loyalty it inspires, the heritage, the history -- goes WAY beyond the monetary value of merch sales or free equipment. It's a sell-out, at a great cost.
Teams (especially professional teams, but a lot of college teams aren't far off from this either) exist to make money, and for no other reason. Anything else is just a byproduct. An owner that always worries about stuff like tradition and not about making money won't be an owner very long. So I can't see why people complain about anything that makes the team money, since teams that don't make money tend to not exist for very long.

Times has an entire article on Tour de France logo creep. Also in the interactive pop-up they have small graphics of all the teams jerseys.

The New Haven County Cutters have an interesting number style on the jersey. In double digit numbers, the first number is higher on the jersey then the second. If you look at the banner on the team website, you can sort of see it. Kind of like this:
