Are you talking about the gray pinstriped unis with the white OSU on them? If so, I thought they were atrocious. The all-white lettering looked like an afterthought.

Funny scene in the 9th inning of the Mets game yesterday, in the dugout, Ramon Castro unknowingly had a Gatorade cup attached to his hat with bubble gum around the rim, then David Wright put his bubble on top of the cup.
Couldn’t get a picture. Could anyone try to find one?

It’s not like Paul or Vince has his own photo service that can go get pictures of whoever he wants (that would certainly make some of the questions he and the readers have a lot easier to solve). Most available pictures from a Giants game are going to be of Barry Bonds, especially now that he’s at 750. Trust me, I certainly won’t be jumping for joy when Bonds hits 756, but don’t hate on Vince for it.
On another note: NBC just ran a side-by-side of Venus Williams with her shorts and John McEnroe with his eerily similar shorts from back in the day. Then Johnny Mac offered a nice little commentary on why he doesn’t 100% like the men’s longer shorts. I thought that was a fun little commentary on the then-and-now of tennis attire.

I just noticed that they used the correct number font for when Beck played for the Giants but, alas, did not vertically arch the name like they should have. A good tribute though.
I still haven’t been able to find out if the giants ever honored Jose Uribe who died in December ‘06 and was their starting SS for the better part of 9 seasons – longer than Beck was on the team.
Something doesn’t compute there.

Interesting tidbit from the Mets/Phils game. In the 6th inning, Jorge Sosa was injured running to first base, so the Mets had John Maine pinch run for him, and he was wearing Jose Valentin’s helmet when he entered the game at first base.

Just watching the Mets/Phillies game, and when John Maine was called to pinch run for the injured Jorge Sosa, there is a shot of him in the 6th inning during the Jose Reyes at bat wearing a batting helmet with “Valentin” written on it. I don’t have the ability to screen grab, so if someone has MLB.tv, could they verify that with a pic?

however, another non-uni-related tidbit… Schoenweis was given as many pitches as he needed to by the home plate umpire to warmup in the bottom of the sixth… normally pitchers are given a maximum of eight…

Mike Sanderson said:
That’s because of the injury, hence an unexpected pitcher replacement of sorts. If the pitcher replacement were to be more “routine,” then presumably he would have warmed up in the bullpen and thus would get 8 pitches from the real mound.

Let’s post Uni winners and losers with respect to the draft.
Example: Glen “Big Baby” Davis is a big winner. He goes from purple to the classy Celtics uniform.
Greg Oden is a winner because Ohio State has some disgusting uniform templates.
I rate Acie Law as a loser, because he has to wear the bland Hawks unis without yellow, and he loses the awesome vertical arch.
Of course, Spencer Hawes is a lateral move, a push if you will. Purple college, purple pro team (U Washington and the Sacto Kings, of course).
