Think they only wore them once. Would have loved to have been involved with the post-mortems at Nike or whoever made them.

Watching the Red Sox game tonight, I saw quite a bit of Kyle Snyder's back (#39). And the lower horizontal bar on his "9" (the one in the middle of the number) meets the right-hand vertical bar at a right angle (like on the Edwards 99) and not at a 45 degree angle (like on your uni cards and on the MLB uni shop web site). Still looking for a photo on this one, anyone have a photo of a sox game-worn jersey from the last couple of years with a "9" on it? Probably Tim Wakefield is the best bet. I think the font is different on the actual jersey than on the digital logos.

Paul,
Here is a link to an article from SSUR.org about a failed attempt to bring a Major League baseball team to Indianapolis. If I remember the rumor back then was that it was going to be the Mariners.
Anyway, the picture isn't great but you can get an idea of what the uniforms would have looked like.

I will look for some better pics in the coming days.

A few years ago SI had 2 made up teams for NFL expansion on the cover. I dont have a pic but I think the teams were from Houston and LA. dont know if the logos were part of the applying process for an expansion team.
A few months late, but whatever.

I bought one of the new 59FIFTY caps yesterday and I must say, I really like them. The new material is a lot lighter and it's pretty nice to have on while the sun is beating down on you even though the cap is navy blue. The brim is pretty nice, it might have something to do with the fact that there is absolutely no glare or anything coming back at you (a rare case of the marketing claim being true). The cotton also cleans off a lot easier than the wool would for me, I work soft serve at a minor league park (Dutchess County Stadium, home of the Hudson Valley Renegades and this years All-Star game for the NY Penn League) and somehow got a few sprinkles on there that left a few colorful spots. They cleaned off with ease which was nice. I guess you can look at this as beating a dead horse, but I just felt like letting people know how happy I was to have spent $31 on a freakin' hat.
Renegades Baseball - FUN IS GOOD!!
Not really uni related (ok, not at all uni related), but the new minor league baseball team in my town, the York Revolution, has a new promotion- the K-man. The K-man is a designated player on the other team. If the K-man strikes out, the fans get free breadsticks from Pizza Hut. This has apparently led to the fans chanting "breadsticks!, breadsticks!, breadsticks!" That's gotta be a rare thing to be heard at a baseball game...
The K-man is not unique - we have the K-man at Dutchess Stadium for the Hudson Valley Renegades - but he has to strike out 4 times in the game for whatever they give away.

Time for a Uni-Retrospective.

My nominee for best helmet.
198/1999 Jersey is the best.
You are alnost right

I dig the early 1990's uniforms with the laege logos on the chests. I have a few of them and they sre pretty boss. The idea worked for that tyope of league - the same idea would probable look horrendous for the NFL, as it dis for the CFL teams that tried it.

But the Dragons, Monarchs and Admirals had pretty cool unisbavck then.

The AP made a uni-related blunder.

The piece on last night's USA-ARG game claims that Maradona was wearing an Argentina jersey. He wasn't. Instead he wore this abomination. The real deal (ca 1986) is this.

The difference is the crest. The real McCoy is squarish and reads "AFA" while the impostor is heart-shaped and just "86." Diego thinks we can't remember which year he won the cup?
Maybe he doesn't want anyone to remember how the "Hand of God" helped that '86 Argentinian team?
I'm a big Maradona fan, but recently read that he was hospitalized by his 'private doctor" for (I'm quoting an actual news story) "Smoking too many cigars, drinking, and dancing too much" (!)
