In the 1990’s we have seen CCM and Reebok following this national tradition, producing a set of golden helmets for “their” respective teams, when they’ve won.

This april, we saw Reebok golden helmets for MoDo.

In 1979 however, when MoDo won their first national championship, they wore elegant Northland helmets and the tradition with golden helmets was still some years away. Thankfully.

In Finnish hockey league each team’s leading scorer has to wear a golden helmet. These helmets are part of state lottery company’s league-wide sponsorship deal.

In mid-90’s Jokerit Helsinki were sponsored by kettle factory Hackman, and they wore silver helmets. When they wore those with purple and teal jerseys, it pretty much made you want to poke your eyes out.

No, Mark, no! I disagree about the Timberwolves. I like the uniforms the way they are.

As for the Twins, it really makes sense to be the Minnesota Twins rather than one city or the other. It would be too fractious to call them the Minneapolis Twins or the St. Paul Twins. About the only other option would be the Twin Cities Twins, which just sounds dumb.

I like the Wolves unis now, except for the font change on the names a few years ago. They went from the more rounded wider letters to a thinner font that more closely resembled their crappy replica jerseys.

I know we have seen the NL All-Star BP jersey on here. I couldn’t remember if anyone had posted the logo for the AL. Granted its just a T-shirt, but you get the idea. To me the GG bridge looks more like power lines.

It’s really too bad they didn’t use the Bay Bridge for the AL jersey.

How about you go %*^& yourself? You want to tell a city/region that supports baseball like Colorado has (4.5 million fans the first year, over 3 million in each of the first 9, despite consistently lousy teams) that they shouldn’t have a team? I’m sorry, we don’t WANT to drive 600 miles to Kansas City or 900 miles to Phoenix to see a game. Look, I don’t like a steady diet of 12-9 games any more than you do, but the humidor has really helped. Park effects used to regularly top 120 and even 130 here, but since 2003 they’ve been 112, 120, 113, 107, and 107. That’s right, since the beginning of last season only 7% more scoring than a neutral park!

You need to relax. Even if I was suggesting that Colorado fans didn’t deserve a team, which I was not doing, you still need to relax. I simply think Coors Field has become gimmicky with its insane dimensions, thin air, and humidor. I’d rather not see it. This is enough for you to tell me to go fuck myself? Again. Breathe. Relax. Have some dip.

For those not familiar with the area, we have the North Bay (Marin Co,) the East Bay (Oakland, Berkeley, etc.) and the South Bay (San Jose, Santa Clara, Silicon Valley, eBay, Yahoo!, Google, Apple, you name it.)

The Niners have their offices and practice facility there, due to the fact it’s further south, and thus warmer. If they can get a fab new stadium done and it has to be Santa Clara, so what? (I can’t afford tickets whether it’s @ the new place or the old dump.) Candlestick is a horrible decaying rusty relic, and an embarrassment to the Bay Area. It needs to be blown up.

Golden State Warriors? I have no idea why they say that and not “Oakland Warriors.”

While we’re at it, you can bet the farm that they will be “The Oakland A’s of Fremont” once their new high-tech Cisco Field palace is built.

And of course, we DO have the best baseball park on the planet not named Wrigley or Fenway, right there off 3rd & King Streets…where it’s a chilly 50 degrees.
