It’s too bad abot those gray hats disappearing so quickly. I really liked them, though they look bizarre when the team’s jersey has pinstripes but the hat doesn’t, like with the Pirates.

And Minna, this $3.50 for Chimay is in the lowest priced stores! In a restaurant it would be Y900, or over seven dollars. Taxes on alcohol (and cigarettes) are low here, but the high euro is making imports really expensive. Japan is pretty bizarre — in the vending machines near me, a 12-ounce can of Coke is Y120 ($1.00), which feels like an outrage, but a reinforced aluminum can of hot tea is the same price, as is generic beer, and both of those feel like bargains. I think if they started selling hot drinks in cans in the US, they could charge a dollar apiece easily.

Cool discussion on the caps of other teams thing. Good point by Mike Engle there, I can almost accept wearing a cool throwback, e.g. Expos, Brewers, etc.
One other thing that I thought of, has anyone run into a siutation where they play for or their kids play for a team named after a hated rival? I’m sure this has come up with Little League usually naming their teams after MLB teams. Last fall, my son’s first year of T-ball he played for the “Cardinals”. Not a hated rival but the timing couldn’t have been worse. I feel personally responsible for the early exit from last year’s playoffs. I didn’t wear the cap just a generic red shirt and I think that was bad enough.

Shame on you. SHAME!

Just kidding. I think it’s important to support your son, no matter what cap or jersey you have to wear to do so.

It takes about a nanosecond for the NFL to start the marketing process of a first-round pick. Player gets call from team … player leaves Green Room for stage … player is handed NFL-approved baseball cap … player must wear $24.99 cap with $3,499 tailored Armani suit … player looks like idiot; player’s fashion consultant weeps in fitting room … player shakes hands with Goodell and helps hold up NFL-approved jersey with, sigh, No. 1 number. That’s why I wish Joe Thomas would have come to the draft. He could have worn a fishing bucket hat with lures stuck through the sides.

Just saw the pic, and realized Polamalu’s wearing some nice uni pants. I wonder if those are going to be new for this year, or whether it’s an old pair? It has the old-school NFL shield (instead of the newer “NFL Equipment” monstrosity), but that Reebok logo is unlike any I’ve ever seen. Usually they go with a plain vector and rectangle instead of that fancy job……

I couldn’t disagree more… I love ballcaps, and own 20 or so of them, wearing them all on a somewhat consistent basis. If anyone wanted to give me a birthday present (coming up in July ;) ), a baseball cap is always a safe bet… as long as it’s not a Braves or Yankees hat.

I’m going to go with C.N. on this one. If I collected caps, I would buy any I thought I liked except for teams I hate, i.e., the Yankees. Huh, I originally typed that as ‘the Wankees’. Funny Freudian slip.
