Basically, the only bad bp hats are the once where the ear flap is a different color from the cap and or they changed the team logo poorly. I actually don’t mind how some hats have the hat and ear flap the same color with the piping between them a different color. I like how that continues the line from the bill of the cap.

Too much red in that uniform. The hat, the undershirt, and the jersey. Kinda reminds me of those New Jersey Nets alternates, in the sense that the red overwhelms you http://cache.viewima...
I think it would be cool if the Red Sox went back to their 1970s unis. The ones that you see in the footage of Carlton Fisk hitting the home run against the Yankees http://images.allpos...

I was referring to the actual length of the white sanitary under the stirrups, not the small amount of white that shows through on the bottom of stirrups with low-cut openings.
In the Juan Pierre photo, you can see the outline of his white sanitary underneath his right stirrup, and it only comes up to the top of his ankle, while the stirrup extends to the knee. I had always assumed that the sanitary ran the length of the stirrup, as indeed it had to back when high-cut stirrups were in fashion.

Hey all, happy weekend. I was watching the pregame for my beloved BlueJackets and saw an interesting segment on their new goalie Brian Boucher. He was picked up from Chicago and showed up with his Blackhawks helmet. To make it match the uniform, he (or the equipment crew, i missed that part) used red cloth tape to cover up all the Blackhawks graphics (i can’t find a picture of the old mask) and they added two BlueJacket stickers to the side. i will try to find pictures later, bottom line, it is rather weird to see a plain hockey mask.

Andrew, it was not a pleasant loss for us, but that was one of the best games I’ve seen. And though I didn’t say this too loudly before the game (but I did say it), I think the loss will be better for us in the playoffs. Heading into the postseason with a 20-0 record would have brought another level of pressure. I know that sounds like attempted justification of the loss, but I had said many times before that they might benefit from a regular-season loss. I just would have preferred it come against someone else. But Benjamin was on, and that made the difference. In any case, it was an amazing game. Our guys might not be able to appreciate it like that right now (understandably), but it was.
I did get a couple shots of the Black Sea (probably the best name you guys have used this year — Swov’s Soldiers was okay, but Black Sea was far better). I’m hoping to have the pictures up by Sunday evening.
I had to chuckle when the Black Sea started chanting “overrated.” (I’m not sure that was actually true.) I chuckled a little more when Chelsea’s student section chanted back, “SEC.” That particular student section repartee was funny.
I found out that the gym’s capacity is 2,400, but that’s assuming 17 inches per person on the benches (ha!). But you know there had to be over 2,000 people there. And that was probably the best atmosphere either team will see. No playoff game can match that atmosphere.
I’m not sure if I’ll be able to make any of Dexter’s playoff games. I’d like to get to one, but if every game conflicts with Chelsea’s games, that may not work out. We’ll see. My main audience is in Chelsea, so my attention tends to turn there first.
Okay, everyone who was tuned out can tune back in now.

I think Petway’s hair would have looked better if he reversed it, made the stripes the hair, and the “base helmet” shaved.

Also saw the Wisconsin-Green Bay – Wright State game tonight. Green Bay coach Tod Kowalczyk hand something written on the back of his hand between his thumb and index finger. it looked like a set of initials, three letters. It was around the 14:00 mark of the first half. I was at a bar, so I couldn’t rewind the DVR or pause it.

Along the same lines, from 2000 to 2002, the Baltimore Ravens had three players with the last name Lewis on their roster: LB Ray, RB Jamal, and WR/KR Jermaine.
Ray just wore “R. LEWIS” on his jersey, as he does to this day. But Jamal and Jermaine wore “JA. LEWIS” and “JE. LEWIS” respectively during these years (you can kind of see an example of Jermaine’s “JE” here). When Jermaine left the team after the 2002 season, Jamal switched to “J. LEWIS”. If Jamal is not resigned by the Ravens, Ray will presumably switch to simply “LEWIS” going forward.

That low-riding logo on Dice-K’s jersey is further evidence supporting this theory I’ve got going.
I think that in the early 2000s or so, Majestic decided that the default player height when constructing jerseys should reflect today’s huge players — 6′3″ or so.
This is particularly evident with the backs of jerseys — the number of inches from the collar to the top of the player number or name has definitely increased.
Here’s one from 1984, and here’s one from 2006.
So when a guy under six feet like Matsuzaka wears one of these jerseys, the logo and number get stuffed too far down and it looks ugly.
It may just be my opinion, but having the logo and number too high up on the taller guys loos a lot better than having it too low on the shorter guys.
Anyone know if they actually did implement this? For the record, I have a 1991 Cubs game jersey and it’s just shy of six inches from the collar to the top of the numbers.
