For some reason this does bother me that much, although I know it will upset some. Fenway brought back the ads on the Green Monster, but the original monster was covered with ads – so it isn’t entirely a new trend.

Hear, hear Paul. I recently tried in vain to find looking for the second worst NBA uni of all time–the 1989-90 Washington Bullets’ home whites (not quite as bad as the mid-90s Cavs road unis).

If you remember, the classic lowercase “b” in the team logo was capitalized and outlined in red, making it all but illegible. The rear nameplate had a capitalized first letter with the rest in lowercase–the whole nameplate was also outlined in red, making it look like an ink spill.

They did tweak it for the next year, taking out the superfluous trim and making the nameplate all caps. Still the “improved” design (which survived until the name change to Wizards in 1998) has got to at least be the most boring uni in NBA history.

Either way, I can’t find a good photo of this monstrosity. Can anyone help?

Man, I can’t find a photo of those and I’m dying to see them. We’re talking about this generation of Bullets unis, right?

Yes, that’s the road red from that year! The capital B! The horrible italic number! But the home whites are missing from the internet.
I even searched for that team’s two big stars–Bernard King and Moses Malone–but came away empty. I found Moses in about 15 other uniforms–Paul should do a piece just on him!

Hey guys, I was looking for this jersey from the Oakland/California seals. I can find jerseys for the Golden Seals that just say seals across the front, but not with the seal logo.

I am sorry if this is the wrong place for this, but it seemed like my best bet to post here with other uniform fanatics. And I hoped someone could help me locate a jersey with that logo. Thanks alot guys.

Mark in Shiga, thank you for solving the mystery of the Japanese jersey! My dad bought it for me in a thrift store in Berkeley a few years ago. I have to say it is pretty small on me so it doesn’t get much wear, but it was Must Wear for the Uni Watch party.

Ian, I was actually kidding about the name of the player, but the company, Taiyô Bijutsu Shikô (Sun Papermaking) in Okayama Prefecture is very real.

I would be more than happy to give them a call and ask about the jersey if you’d like. It looks to me like it’s from the late 1980s or early 1990s and was surely used in an industrial league that the company played in.

And I always do surgery on my formed hats. The only changes I make from the article are 1. After the intial cut, I use a finger to loosen large areas from the outer fabric and cut them out. 2. As others have stated I get the hat wet and wear it until 100% dry when finished with the surgery.
