What do the New Yorkers feel about the Nets becoming the Brooklyn Nets?

And for the Mets fans here: my local baseball team (the New Orleans Zephyrs) just recently became your AAA farm team. Here’s a great article about it.

Wow, thanks for the heads up on that. I was wondering what team would step up in place of that Nats. I hope to get out to see some games this coming year, making the drive from Baton Rouge. Zs games are really a good time.

As far as the orange suit. Burn it!

That looks like an orange sport coat to me.

I think that, based on NJ having so many bad unis over the years, they’ll never gat a good shake. If a new team came on teh scene in the unis pictured above, nobody would bat an eye.

I always liked the basketball net design on the grey shorts. That was probably the best team “logo” they ever made.

The New Jersey Americans, who eventually became the New York Nets, who eventually became the New Jersey Nets, wore red uniforms. So there is history on the Nets side for wearing red uniforms.

It’s a nice ode to their past, the only thing I see wrong with the jersey is the crappy helix design on the side of the jersey and shorts- it shouldn’t be there. It breaks up a nice stripe design. If they wanted to add more white they should have just made the white stripes between the blue and red larger…

The “crappy helix design” is supposed to look like a basketball net. It is on all of their uniforms: home, away.

They are not moving. What the owners of the Penguins did in Kansas City is called “bargaining chip acquisition”. With a prospective owner and arena lease, they can pressure the city of Pittsburgh, the county, and the state to build them a new arena. Lots of sports teams have used this ploy in the past. Lots will use it in the future.

The reason I say this is because the Penguins sold the building out again tonight. If Pittsburgh wants to keep this team, and it appears that they do, they are going to have to sell out games against Florida and Carolina, two of the lower-ranked teams in the East.

And I will honestly say this: the Florida Panthers, despite their owner’s claims of them staying in Florida, will be looking for a new home sooner rather than later. They don’t play anywhere close to a major centre (a short drive outside Fort Lauderdale), and the team is brutal. They somewhat resemble the Carolina Hurricanes when they played in Raleigh: bad team with a half-filled arena. There are far too many problems in the Florida Panthers’ organization to mention, but this is a team that is seriously in dire straits.
