Does this tradition of rowing’s make anyone else think of heraldry and coats-of-arms? Take a look at the medium arms of the Ausrtrian and Hungarian Empire. All the little coats included in the large shields represent areas that were controlled by the empire. In other words, if we defeat you, we get the representation of your team. I wonder if this is connected to rowing’s tradition. Considering rowing’s status as a upper-class, British, noble sport, I would not be surprised. Any rowing experts know?

The only exception to the NCAA gambling rules is for “long-standing traditions.” The NCAA has specifically stated that rowing’s shirt-betting fits this exception. Most people–in fact, most university compliance officers–are not aware of the exception, but it exists and permits shirt-betting in women’s rowing. As a former college rower (and a current NCAA compliance officer for a Divison I university), I have to point out that we ladies are very proud of the betting shirts that we have earned–just like the guys are!

My only advice would be that if the uniform is a patterned jersey, you may have to contact the school or look for blank jerseys online. Once that’s done, you’d have to provide a company with pictures of everything: logo, nameplate font, and any patches the team may wear. It might cost you an arm and a leg if you go full embroidery for a logo. They base the cost on colours and size of the logo.

The one place that I know does custom uniforms is River City Sports. I know because I used to work there.

He has a US flag and the Canadian flag. Mississauga is part of the metro Toronto area, so he’s really not all that Canadian.

Gamecocks is one word, not two. And you have no idea how much fun it is to yell, “Go Cocks!” at sporting events.

My eyes were burning out of my sockets watching this horrendeous display of UGLY, non-Traditional uniforms…as a resident of Missouri, (and unfortunately, a tax-payer who funds this “crap” on the field) Pinkel is, and will always be, a second-tier coach…and it’s a shame that a state with only one D-1 football school, has not performed better these past 25+ years…my God, look at the states of OK, KS, IA…why not MU?????????????

I also like the fact that Maryland decided to put their patches on their upper shoulders. Rather than try to cover up their normal chest logos and such.
