Also, I seem to remember that the German National team wore, for at least one match in 1990 World Cup, green uniforms. I can't find a picture though for the life of me.

Am I being delusional, or did these uniforms actually exist? Someone help.
Here you go. Scroll down to the middle of the page. HORRIBLE! (and adidas, for you anything-but-nike lovers.)
Aha, I knew they existed. Thanks Jonas and Patrick. I think they're actually so bad that they're actually good (not unlike the Astros uniforms from the early 1980s. Ex: http://www.upperdeckstore.com/Images/Catalog/ProductImages/cud49497.jpg)

Those green kits do beg a question: how is green associated with Germany? It just seems like a random choice for a country who's flag is black, gold, and red.
The green aways they used to wear was due to the Republic of Ireland (iirc - might have been the North, the national football teams of Ireland were a minefield until the fifties) being the first side to play the new West Germany after World War 2. The finally dropped it for a Red, White and Black effort, reminiscent of the pre-Weimar Republic flag.

Still quite nice of them to stick wtih tradition, but the Italia '90 kits were the best that any of the three German national sides (well, techincally there have been four, but I've never seen the Saarland kit) ever did.

The "Annual Congressional Baseball Game for Charity", as it is now billed, remains a vibrant tradition, if incredibly insider and wonky (or is it wonkish?), and the 2006 game, won by the Republican team 12-1, was the 45th installment.

In fact, recently the game has taken place neither in a minor league park nor outside of the District - the game has moved to RFK Stadium, current home of the Nationals.

And now for the important things to note – the uni-related stuff. The uniforms the legislators sport do usually represent the major team, or one of the important teams, in their home district or state, as earlier mentioned, but can get creative. A number of participants wear uniforms from their college or high school playing days or just to repesent their alma maters, having been players or not, regardless of where the school is; sometimes this means wearing an authentic uniform last worn decades ago. There have even been circumstances of players wearing Little League uniforms. In this year – er, now last year’s game, that is – Linda Sanchez (D-CA) wore a UCLA uniform in honor of her alma mater, but as one of the few Congresswomen, she chose the jersey number IX – to honor the legacy of Title IX. Historically, however, the participants had used custom uniforms for the game; they were basic, but at least classy. For a while they had jersey numbers and only wither the name “Republicans” or “Democrats”, but before that, the teams adopted nicknames for the event, such as the “Diplomats”, etc.

Now, my apologies: I wrote this whole thing before noticing your coverage of the game in this post.

I know earlier discussions have come up with teams (like the Senators) that use different fonts/typefaces for different jerseys (home/road/3rd), but while looking around the NHL shop, I noticed that the Blue Jackets and the Wild use a different number font/typeface on the authentic and replica jerseys. The authentic comes with the on-ice version, but the replicas are stamped with a generic, block font. When you compare the two, the replica's really look cheesy!
It depends on where the NHL gets its jersey work done. At the place I used to work at, we sent our jersey work to the actual local NHL authorized tailor. They did the same font for both, regardless of whether the jersey was a replica or a pro. However, Jersey City, another Canadian authorized NHL jersey custom tailor, often cheaps out with crappy fonts for replicas. We noticed it when people would bring in their Penguins jerseys and they had plain block lettering and numbering. Often, it was very poorly done as well with a lot of loose threads. It sounds to me like the NHL is taking the cheap way out to maximize profits. It costs the tailors extra time and money to cut the lettering and numbering in the correct fonts. This is why the Islanders' Fisherman jersey was so expensive to get customized.
I also noticed that certain authentic uniforms are unavailable, Canadiens home and 3rd, Wild 3rd, etc. Think this could be because of the pending uniform changes?
Not at all. Authentic third jerseys may be on back-order. To give you an idea, Reebok has 13,000 Barney Rubble Hairpieces jerseys on order from the city of Buffalo alone. They informed my jersey supplier that if he were to order in December, he probably wouldn't see a Hairpieces jersey until sometime in February at the earliest. He said it was more likely to expect them for the playoffs if ordered at Christmas. Since the Reebok factory in Quebec makes most of the jerseys for the NHL, he also added that they are currently only making Hairpieces jerseys at the factory right now until they moved enough to cover off what the city of Buffalo needed.

I suspect that the others you mentioned are unavailable because they aren't being produced right now, and NHL.com simply doesn't have any in stock.
Thanks for all the info, Teebz. You're a gentleman and a scholar.
The socks that the female athletes are all wearing are made by a company called Red Lion. Anyone who plays soccer has seen a lot of the crazy styles they offer. Not sure if they have a website, but Amazon does offer most of the styles I've seen:

Sorry, I forgot the link:

Cyclone Socks:

Well, he wasn't, honestly. The economy was in shambles, he gave Suharto the go-ahead to kill 200,000 East Timorese (one-third the population), he pardoned Nixon, presided over the fall of Saigon, gave Chevy Chase a platform to build a career on, and lost to Jimmy Carter just two years later. If he looked any better than mediocre, it was in comparison to his predecessor.

He did look good in a Michigan football uni, though.
I am currently watching Cal and Texas AM. I have noticed that Marshaun Lynch does not have a nameplate, while the rest of the team does. No photo

evidence yet
I noticed this too... Two thoughts as to a possible explanation...
1)Questionable integrity of an alternate jersey... when lynch gets that many carries/touches a game, it would be easy for a name patch to tear off.
2)I noticed that there was another #10 for Cal on defense... Don't know if thats an explanation as much as something i noticed, oddly enough, A&M had a #11 on defense as well as big pun #11 running the ball.
