Very off topic…
what is the deal with Pedro’s sleeves?
Pedro used to cut his sleeves down the seam so that he had more arm movement. The MLB has since made a new rule saying that you cannot cut your sleeves, so he now has extra material sewn in to his jersey sleeves to creat a similar effect. As a pitcher and huge Sox fan back when i was 14 and Pedro was still in Boston, I would cut my sleeves in the same manner and it really helped.
I know it was mentioned yesterday but I wanted to know if anybody had a shot of Reggie Evans’ jersey with his last name missing. All of the pictures from Saturday’s game show either the brawl or Carmelo.
Speaking of the Nuggets, where did those jerseys come from yesterday? Were they one of those deals that the team just made up their own “alternate” throwback looking uniform that never really was a throwback? It seams like NBA teams wear at least a half-dozen different uniforms during the year. Ugly again to say the least.

Yeah, those are the official Nuggets alternate uniforms.
My question is: is there a limit to the number of times an NBA team can wear their 3rd jersey. Also, do they have to tell the league they’re going to wear them. Phoenix has been wearing orange since this win streak started.
I can’t find any info online about the Uni regulations in the NBA.

Well I’m not sure about the NBA, but i know that the NHL restricts a team from wearing their 3rd Jerseys to (I believe) a maximum of 15 times a season. I remember this coming up when the Buffa-Slug was released, and the ownership had to try and appease the fans by saying they would wear the throwback alternates as many times as possible.
Warrick Dunn was wearing a pretty thick chain necklace last night in Atlanta. No screen shots though. It won’t change the world or anything, but thought you might like to know.
They just said on CBS that next year they are talking about having the NFL refs wear helmets. Horrible.
I see why hockey refs need them, but football? Come on.
The umpire in football stands in the defensive backfield and has very large and very fast men careening all around him. And those men are wearing helmets and pads.
Vin Scully continually calls for the base coaches in baseball to wear helmets.
Ah, as expected the Pats are wearing the most pointless alternate uni (in difference to their normal unis) in sports.
Unless someone’s wearing navy blue long sleeves, or you see a closeup of the neckline, you can’t really tell.
Would love for them to wear a red alternate. Either the Pat Patriot throwback (which they did a few years ago) or a red modernization on their current template.
My TV is unhappy. On CBS I have the Bills in all blue against the Dolphims in all white, and the FOX game is the Saints in all black against the ‘Skins in (thankfully) white shirts and maroon pants.
Saw a shot of Lions’ coach Rod Maranelli on the sideline cheering on a play. He was only wearing one glove, on his left hand. Kinda weird. I know writing with a thick glove can be kind of hard, but do coaches write on or highlight their laminated play chart at all?
as a Cowboy fan I can say the Saints’ winning streak has a lot more to do with Payton’s play calling and the player’s execution of his game plan than black unis!

absolutely, the red would look killer- better than the usual navy.
If anyone is recording the Packers/ Lions game, go to the start of the 2nd quarter and get a screen grab of this guy in the stands- he’s wearing one of the awful new ref unis that is made into a Santa jacket!
The Jets are wearing the white-on-white vs. the Vikings, and they are doing well. Better than the green pants, and MUCH better than the monochrome green worn recently.
Too much dark in that Jags (white shirts, black pants) vs. Titans (all dark blue) game. Those two teams’ “official” home and road kits (white pants for both teams) are nice; they should wear those. And have the Titans worn the dark blue shirts with the light blue pants? I know they’ve worn the opposite.
The Patriots’ silver uniforms could be a great thing, but the shade of silver is too close to white. The silver only really works if there is no other white uniforms. In high school my team’s colors were navy and silver. White was not technically a team color, but was often used (football, hockey, etc). But the baseball team had silver uniforms (with navy pinstripes). They looked amazing and subtle (not shiny). When we played a team in white they looked gray, and when we played a team in gray, they looked white. This is just a very long way of saying that the Pats should either get rid of their whites or their grays. Also, I find it funny that when the Pats wore red unis, everyone here (in New England) hated them, but we now love them as throwbacks. Perhaps winning has something to do with the perception of uniforms???
When Vikings backup QB Tavaris Jackson took the field he was wearing some sort of a dark shell necklace. I’ll look for pictures and post a link if I can find it.
I think a few years ago they had more ’silver-ish’ jerseys. I worked in a sports memorbilia store and we sold ones that were more shiny, I can’t recall if they wore them or not though…
Since he brought back a pick today, I’ll ask again: why does Adam “Pacman” Jones have “P. Jones” instead of “A. Jones” on his jersey? In an attempt to figure out one possibility, I checed the ESPN.com roster for the presence of another “A. Jones”, but not is there not one, HE is listed as just “Adam Jones”.
Love those Pats silver jerseys, but I agree. They need to be a darker shade of silver. Wouldn’t mind seeing them ditch their white jerseys in favor of a road silver, but I don’t think the NFL would allow it. Someone said the Pat’s should get a red alternate. I completely agree with that, but a modern version of their home blue. Not the old red patriots jersey.

Chiefs with the expected ‘LH’ helmet stickers, round, white with red block letters (and maybe a black outline to the letters - can’t tell). Rather large and oddly-placed (left side of the rear of the helmet) although I think that’s where the Tillman ’40’s went, so maybe that’s the standard.

Why does Titans cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones have “P. Jones” on the back of his jersey? Do other NFL players get nicknames instead of real names on their jerseys?
Apparently, NFL players get to choose the name they want to be addressed by. In Adam Jones’ case, he prefers to go by Pacman. Other examples around the NFL are Roland “Champ” Bailey and former Titan Clevan “Tank” Williams.
His first initial appears on his jersey because there’s more than one Titan with the last name Jones. Pacman gets a “P” and Brandon gets a “B.”

Did anyone watching the game notice how absolutely huge the Umpire is in that crew? He was taller than every player on the field.
Slightly uni related. Having watched Packers-Lions games over the years, I always remember seeing the same guy working with Jason Hanson before the games as he warms up. No matter what the temperature, this rather large guy wears a poorly fitting shirt and shorts. Never a jacket. Never pants. Just his warm weather wardrobe and a stop watch around his neck. Who is this guy?
Watching KC/San Diego game
Anyone hear the quirky things the players were sayting during their introductions? I’m talking about right before the start of the game, the players usually come on screen and introduce themselves. Such as “LaDanian Tomlinson, Texas Christian University.”
Tony Gonzalez said his intro in that Al Pacino Scarface voice. Another guy (can’t think of his name) said “John Smith…home schooled, thanks Mom!” lol, I thought that was pretty funny
Some guys were just saying their hometowns. Ty Law said his hometown, and another guy was like “John Doe..GO BEARS!”

I can’t really tell from my crap TV, but Herm has an LH on his sweater that appears to be one of the helmet stickers (which would make sense given the short notice), and it seems to be rotating slightly clockwise as the game goes on. If it is a sticker I can’t imagine it will survive long. Be on the lookout for a replacement at halftime maybe?
Glad you was able to find a good pic of those Mt Union unis. I saw them yesterday and gagged. They looked brown and blue on my tv. Pics I’ve seen on the net make them look more black. But ugly either way.
I have to agree that Mt Union has some ugly uniforms. Whats up with the shoulder patches? At least U-Dub-Dub looked respectable in their road whites. I saw them play in person this year and its too bad they couldn’t win for their coach who is retiring.
See, I gotta stand up for my Ohio boys here. Both UWW and Mt. U have the same uniforms. Both have all whites, purple/white and purple/black combos. UWW just got to wear the better unis as they were the lower seed. Besides, when you’re as awesome a team as Mt. Union, you can get away with some ugly uniforms.

Doesn’t Herm look sharp tonight? I love the red sweater-vest. Only the suits (Nolan and Del Rio) have looked better this year.

I would be interested to hear the rules for how many times a alternate jersey can be worn because last season, the Cavs wore the heck out of those blue ones, especially towards the end of the season and into the playoffs, essentially abandoning the wine ones. They’re bringing them back for this Saturday, for a themed “Blue Christmas” night. Along with the orange 86/87 jerseys, the return of the blues will be the 4th jersey they’ll have worn this year (along with regular home and aways).
I don’t usually like the all-whites, but the Ronald McDonalds didn’t look so bad. However, they couldn’t hold a candle to the Bolts’ dark blues. I know I’ve said it before, but the dark blues are SO much better than the powder blues. I think San Diego has one of the best unis in the NFL. I like it when the socks are low.

It looked like a pin-on button to me. It was a little reflective and popped out from his vest, unlike a sticker or patch. Unfortuately, it’s hard to tell from here, but this actually looks like a patch. Any word?
^Correct PE (Player Exclusive) Mach 3’s. I think he borrowed them from Brian Dawkins who wore those earlier in the season. Do a getty search for an early season game.

Not uni-related…
Watching KC/San Diego game
Anyone hear the quirky things the players were sayting during their introductions? I’m talking about right before the start of the game, the players usually come on screen and introduce themselves. Such as “LaDanian Tomlinson, Texas Christian University.”
Tony Gonzalez said his intro in that Al Pacino Scarface voice. Another guy (can’t think of his name) said “John Smith…home schooled, thanks Mom!” lol, I thought that was pretty funny
Some guys were just saying their hometowns. Ty Law said his hometown, and another guy was like “John Doe..GO BEARS!”

in high school, i usually just wore a lucky cut-off tshirt under my jersey. it was more for javelin, but it didnt hurt in shot put or hammer either.

You’ve got to be kidding? You like the Skins unis? As a Washingtonian, I must say: Ugh. Worse colors in football. Okay, second worst.

Speaking of LSU/Oregon St.,
does anyone know why Tasmin Mitchell is still wearing “T. Mitchell” on his back? Darrel Mitchel graduated so Tasmin is the only Mitchell left.

Any word?

Amen to that!

What kind of cleats was Jeff Garcia wearing? Kinda looked like some Jordans, but I don’t think he’s a Jordan athlete.

^Correct PE (Player Exclusive) Mach 3’s. I think he borrowed them from Brian Dawkins who wore those earlier in the season. Do a getty search for an early season game.
