For all those watching the Easton – P’burg game on ESPN2. Check out the pants on the Rovers. They were from my mothers era at Easton. Great jersey too. Go Rovers.
Happy Thanksgiving to one and all. I longtime reader but only post once and a while. Thank you all for great entertainment. And those are some snazzy pants on the Easton Team
I mentioned this late last night, so it was probably missed, but has anyone ever noticed that in shots of the Flutie Hail Mary play against Miami that his high-hookup chinstrap goes over the sides of his facemask, rather than through the inside?
Check out the highlights that are bound to be shown all day. You can see it really clearly in the shot of him celebrating. Pics are in yesterday’s comments, #152ish
This Easton v. P’burg game is definately a pleasure to watch … and clears up a question I have had all week.
I was very excited to see the suits on Nolan and Del Rio this week and was waaay dissapointed but couldnt figure out why. They both looked like funeral directors on the sideline. I mean, a BLACK SUIT???? This isn’t a formal occasion, it’s a football game. It has really bothered me. Then seeing the Easton coaches amazing look with his SPORTCOAT made me realize that the suits are overkill. If you look back at the great fashion of coaches past, almost all wore sportcoats with non-matching pants, not suits. I think the suits look way out of place on the gridiron, the sportcoat looks classic. Just my 2cents
That basketball the coyote is holding looks like one of the “old”, 8-panel variety. Even the mascots don’t even want to use the new ball! Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
Is anyone watching the dog show on NBC? I know this is not sport as in ball/bat/puck, etc, but it is the funniest thing I have ever seen: relatively out of shape men and women running straight-legged in suits. And yes, it is some uni stuff, as in the stuff they are wearing.
Look at SI.com trying to get into the mix. I can think of 20 worse uniforms than the ones they highlited.
SI missed the boat. The Oregon football team ought to have three spots all by itself (and I’m a U of O alum! The agony of having to watch my alma mater in that crap!).
Does anybody notice that the ball he is holding is not the new ball the NBA is using, but it is the Wilson Infusion.
Happy Turky Day! Go Lions!
I think it’s actually a spalding ball (you can see the “s” on the right and the “ing” on the left, but yeah, it’s not the new ball, for sure.
happy thanksgiving, all!
The si.com article is a joke. As if the coyotes have one of the worst jerseys in sports. They used to but I feel the new ones are simple and cool.
You said it, the logo may leave a little to be desired but the color scheme is great, kind of reminds me of this CLASSIC!http://www.legendsofhockey.net/graphspot/tre_tretiak04.jpg

Happy Thanksgiving Uni Watch family! Browns throwback helmets look good. I would like to see them wear a WHITE throwback helmet also. Lions blue jerseys look good, but the black trim is overkill.
For anybody looking for some pics from the Easton-P’burg game, take a look here.
Congrats to the Rovers, there defense has been stifling all year. And good luck to them Saturday against Liberty, the only team to beat them this year. And good luck to P’burg next week against Elizabeth. Great show by both teams.
Anyone else notice how the Cowboy players do not all have the same socks. Some of the players have mostly white socks with blue stripes and others have mostly blue socks with white stripes. No pics as of yet.
The teams that were involved with the Thanksgiving Day games last year did not wear throwback uniform, with the exception of the Cowboys. I wonder why this tradition has backed off the past couple of years, specially the height of uni watching.
I have a question for NY fans. Do you like the Giants uniforms? They are classic, but I was watching the NFL Network today and they had clips of Strahan from earlier in his career before the uni switch. I think I might like the helmets and the colors of the older jerseys better. I personally don’t like the newer pants. This is coming from a Bronco fan that would love to see the throwback orange uniforms comeback full time. Any thoughts?
Not sure if anyone knows, with the Cowboys in their throwbacks. Do they use the same helmets they use every week, or do they order new ones to make the throwback helmet?
I’m leaning towards the former where they use current silver ones and repaint them as the white throwbacks. It’s more cost effective I believe. Happy Thanksgiving to all.

I know that they wore the same uniforms and helmets in the preseason, I am sure that Jerry Jones has enough money to buy white helmets in addition to the silver ones. The Florida Gators wore white throwback helmets this year and they actually wore them in preseason practices to make sure they were worn in for the game.

I personally love the giants jerseys. Well, I loved them right after they switched them, with the old whites that looked like this. I personally think their new whites are ugly, but as far as the blues go, i like the royal blue color more than the navy. Also it hink the logo on the helmet is nicer too, and the pants are gray, not white which looks better for the white jerseys.
Watching my first Thanksgiving Day football with the Denver-KC game and did you notice that the Chiefs are wearing their throwbacks? It doesn’t get mentioned often, but the Chiefs and Bears uni-wise are to the NFL what the Yankees are to MLB. They wear their longtime designs, which never get tweaked because they’re perfect the way they are.
Anyway, happy Thanksgiving to all Uni-readers out there! Back to the game.

They could have worn the Dallas Texans uniforms from pre-KC or gray facemasks from the Len Dawson era
With all of the flashbacks ESPN is doing to the 1984 BC/Miami game, I was reminded that both starting QBs wore jersey numbers in the 20s (20-Kosar; 22-Flutie).
Can anyone think of a Division I game after that in which both starting quarterbacks wore a number in the 20s?
can’t find any pics but a few things i noticed from today’s games.
1- Tony Romo’s hat that he wore during postgame and while on the sideline. it was just a big D, similar to the duke D.
2- Don’t remember which player, but one of the miami player’s jersey had s stretch band in the bottom so it fit tightly against his skin. I noticed it right after he got tackled and his jersey came untucked
3- Cowboys and Bucs game featured some extremely good looking unis. Those white boys helmets were truly great.
The socks aren’t different; Romo just has his pant legs lower, which covers up a lot of the blue.
Man… only the Cowboys wore throwbacks today. Thanksgiving should always be throwback day! This is just terrible.
Having grown up in KC and being a lifelong fan of the Royals and Chiefs, I have 2 new campaigns to start.
I am gonna start the “Ditch the Yellow” campaign for the Chiefs. They should go just red and white or even throw a little silver in there. Ace the the white facemasks while your at it.
I am also gonna start the “Bring back the light blue unis” campaign for the Royals. Give me the look of U.L. Washington, Amos Otis, Frank White, George Brett, Willie Wilson, Hal McCrae….
JUst watched the Chefs do the Broncos tonight in what was clearly today’s best game, and I couldn’t help but seriously covet Herm’s awesome hat. Fire Engine red, low profile cap w/ a great, simple KC on it, I gotta get my hands on that.
PS…. I love the expression of misery on Shanahan….. oh, it’s like he hasn’t had a bowel movement since last Sunday.. sweet sweet sweet.
[Must be nice to SEE the Denver-KC game since 80% of the nation can't]Watching my first Thanksgiving Day football with the Denver-KC game and did you notice that the Chiefs are wearing their throwbacks? I cant get the KC-DEN game here in NYC because of Time Warner…. but i hear its white pants vs white pants tonight?
This is why the NFL Network shouldn’t broadcast games. My roommate is from Wichita and a huge KC Chiefs fan and guess what – Time Warner has the cable monopoly there. Home state team and he can’t even watch it.
It looked like the Cowboys wore silver pants with the white & blue jerseys. Wouldn’t white pants with stripes work better? But that would require all new pants.
And finally, what I’m thankful for this year: the Dodgers putting nameplates back on jerseys. Hooray!
How about the promo on NFL network for the Bengals ravens game with the shot of Chad Johnson in the old Bengals uniform….If you missed the game on NFL network, you didn’t miss much from the commentary/visual department. Gumbel and Collinsworth were horrible, the on screen graphics were annoying and huge, and a lack of instant replays
Watching the ‘Boys/Bay game on tape made me realize two things. One, those Dallas throwbacks were sweet. Two, it’s much better to listen to the game sans announcers (the VCR didn’t record the feed) so I can only hear the sounds of the game and the crowd.
Burrill, sweet hockey jerseys.
todd k., when are you getting started on the Ekkys?
Teebz, I’m with you on the SI photo gallery that keeps popping up here—it is the new KR’s BP hat.
Man, I am stuffed. Turkey Day is hazardous to my health.
The socks aren’t different; Romo just has his pant legs lower, which covers up a lot of the blue.
Man… only the Cowboys wore throwbacks today. Thanksgiving should always be throwback day! This is just terrible.
It’s not unusual to see nfl players with varying levels of white showing. Here’s Witten in normal uni. Note the low whites. Pant length has very little to do with the low white look. It’s more dependent believe it or not on the height of the white sock.
Also, the Cowboys do have an extra helmet for these throwbacks.
Also, the Hat Romo was wearing is an older Cowboy model like Tom Landry used to wear.

You’ve got my vote with the Royals … the powder blues are what set them apart. I’d love to see them come back. I don’t agree with the Chiefs getting rid of the yellow, though. They’d look just like Nebraska, not that there’s anything wrong with the way Nebraska looks, but they wouldn’t be the Chiefs without the red & gold.
The only change I would ever make to the Chiefs unis is to ban the white-on-white, always and forever.
Guess I probably ought to add that obviously the Chiefs’ helmets wouldn’t look like Nebraska’s. My point, though, is that there aren’t a whole lot of teams with a red-and-gold color scheme. Plenty of teams do red-and-white.

Yes, but don’t you think there is a Ronald McDonald thing goin on? Maybe change the yellow then.

Yea thats my favorite Cowboys hats and Romo isnt the first to wear it since Landry, I believe most of the coaches who wear hats on the cowboys staff use that hat, or they use to

Okay, jersey number aficionados…
With all of the flashbacks ESPN is doing to the 1984 BC/Miami game, I was reminded that both starting QBs wore jersey numbers in the 20s (20-Kosar; 22-Flutie).
Can anyone think of a Division I game after that in which both starting quarterbacks wore a number in the 20s?

Excellent job by SI. And it was just a matter of time before Si jumped into the uniform watch waters.

Heres a pic of the Cowboys mismatched socks
Note the difference between Romo and TO/Witten
#70 by Steve-O on 11.23.06 10:40 pm |
can’t find any pics but a few things i noticed from today’s games.

It doesn’t get mentioned often, but the Chiefs and Bears uni-wise are to the NFL what the Yankees are to MLB. They wear their longtime designs, which never get tweaked because they’re perfect the way they are.
Anyway, happy Thanksgiving to all Uni-readers out there! Back to the game.

#81 by Andy from KC on 11.24.06 12:13 am |
Guess I probably ought to add that obviously the Chiefs’ helmets wouldn’t look like Nebraska’s. My point, though, is that there aren’t a whole lot of teams with a red-and-gold color scheme. Plenty of teams do red-and-white.

Yea thats my favorite Cowboys hats and Romo isnt the first to wear it since Landry, I believe most of the coaches who wear hats on the cowboys staff use that hat, or they use to
