Just to clarify on the LSU white/purple uniforms, here's the story:

LSU traditionally wore white at home, which was contrary to the tradition of visitors wearing white. At some point the NCAA made it an official rule that visitors would wear white and home teams would wear color. LSU successfully petitioned for an exception. LSU now wears white at home UNLESS the visiting team objects. If the visiting team objects, LSU wears purple.

Very few visiting teams (maybe 5?) have objected and forced LSU to wear purple. I think all but one of those have gotten absolutely clobbered for it, as the team and the crowd take it as an insult to tradition and use it as a motivating factor.

If this doesn't work, I may have to sign up for a link tutorial.

The tidbit about the fourth star on Italy's soccer crest reminded me that Indiana University's men's soccer team, which has won seven NCAA championships, wears seven stars on their jerseys. See here: IU men's soccer

Just as an aside, they've got a good shot for No. 8 this season, as they're ranked sixth in the country after starting 2-0. Go Hoosiers!

Alright, you guys are really getting to me. Watching the Tigers-Yankees tonight and from the pitchers mound camera angle, with the ump and catcher blocking part of it, the interlocking NY logo painted behind homeplate looks an awful lot like the UnderArmour logo. Trying to find a good shot of it.
Umm... the logo behind home plate is the interlocking NY. Y'know the Yankee logo, which pretty much hasn't changed in 100 years....
I know what it is, I was just remarking that when parts of it are covered up, and it's viewed at an extreme angle, it looks like something else.

This is a shot in the dark, but Buckeye Mike, do you live in Orange County?
sorry it's so late, and i didnt get to post in time, but no, i live in Ohio. I'm right up the road from UNIopolis, the little town paul talked about oh, about 3 weeks ago. I am moving to CA soon though, for work, and I will be up near Sacramento. Why did i sound like i was from orange county or somthing?
No no no. :) It's just the pastor at my church in Orange County is Mike, and he always says something about Ohio State during football season. So just in case it was him, I thought I'd ask because I can totally see him enjoying a site like this.

Good luck in Sacramento!

I just saw a preview for MTV's reality show "two-a-days', where apparently they follow a high school football team around for a season. What kind of jerseys were they wearing? Yep, Nike, complete with obvious swoosh and unessecary piping.I can't directly link to a picture, but if you go here and click on photos, you can see their came jerseys.
yea they take the nike thing to a whole new level on that show. their uniforms (forget the team nam, hoover maybe?) are actually the UMiami template, just black and orange instead of dark green and orange. actually, any team can be outfitted by nike. if you go to www.niketeam.com, you can build uniforms. some are nice and simple, but some are pretty disastrous (ie, UM)
The jersey is the Miami template but Hoover just has the regular pants - Miami has some back piping on their pants
