Too bad Ronaldo wasn’t playing for the other team. We could call him Ronaldo McDonaldo if he was wearing those Red and Yellow monstrosities. I have the sudden urge for a hot dog.
Not necessarily true. Teams have a set colour. For Liverpool this would be red. Year in-year out their kit will be red and white. They also have away kits which tend to be a fair distance away from the home kit in terms of colour. There are no guidelines (like in the NFL where home is colour and away is white or vice-versa for dallas and washington with it becoming more common for miami under Saban) for this so they can do whatever they want. Now they also tend to need a 3rd kit because teams play so many different teams and kits each year. The fixture list for each team is 38 for the premiership, and with a team like Liverpool expecting to get at least to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup so thats another 5 (or so) games with the Champions League and League Cup on the same fixture list. Thats more-games and teams you don’t necessarily “know” so the bigger clubs tend to have a 3rd kit. In US Sports this isn’t the case. You play one set of fixture list and nothing in between. There is one competition (ie Superbowl) so you know who you’re playing and they’ll be wearing White when they visit you and you’ll be wearing white if you visit them (by default).
All that Soul Glo that it picks up gives the ball a nice healthy shine so that it can more easily be seen up by spectators and TV camera operators. It’s like the glow puck but several orders of magnitude more disgusting.
During the Twins/White Sox game last night, I noticed that first base coach Jerry White’s jersey just said “White” on the back. When Rondell White reached base, I noticed his jersey read “R. White.” Shouldn’t Jerry’s jersey read “J. White?”
early in today’s yankee/angel game.. fox showed rodriguez from the yankees warming up pre-game with his pants at knee height… what was amazing, besides 13 actually wearing the pants at the appropriate level, were the under armour logos on his navy stockings… definitely not mlb-sanctioned….
regardless… he is wearing his pajamas for the actual game…
Also on the Fox broadcast of the Yankees/Angels game, the announcers mentioned that a few years ago the Yankees were thinking about ditching the road greys and going with navy shirts with white pinstripes. Anyone heard of this? Any prototypes out there?

Yes, that was true. They were going to do the reverse of the home pinstripes for the road. Thankfully, it was shot down.

As a Yankees fan I am glad that I never even heard of something like this, it would have been terible, the road grays are as important as the home pinstripes and shouldn’t be messed with.
That is such a horrible jersey idea that you can’t even Buy them
yeah, i heard that the Yanks were going to do that, but there was so much fan outcry(think Buffaslug) that the front office killed the idea. I think someone explained the history behind the grey’s.
Does anyone else wish wetland was still playing, just to see a Yank in stirrups?
I think ManU’s new kits look fantastic. They’re much classier with AIG than they were before. I can’t say I’m a huge fan of Watford there, but it certainly could be much worse.
What the hell? They are nothing like each other, the only thing they have in common is that it’s white, but thats the start and end of it, unless you see something different..
Why do soccer players always have greasy hair? It’s gotta slow ‘em down some…
A lot of the time the players hair is just wet from being soaked with sweat. I play soccer and I know that after any practice or game I look like a just took a shower.

In addition to the white jerseys, both teams’ away jerseys are roughly the same color blue, the numbers on the blue Italy jersey look very similar to the numbers on the older Magic jersey, and the “Italia” typeface on the new Italy jerseys (white) is also very similar to the “Magic” on Orlando’s current jerseys.

if you look at the first italia pic, the number font looks the same, kinda. you can see it less in the second pic.
Fellas check out that little Japanese pitcher throwing in the Little League World Series semi-final game? Rook was sporting the high-socks, and some nice K’s… style points….

OKAY….I think that they ARE using Soul Glow or gel so all the lovers out there can get off on their outstanding BEAUTY. Or so you can see the ball better. Sweat! HA! Us football players had a good reason to laugh at those guys!
i was watching the bristol race an i noticed that kevin harvick had a recees (not sure on how to spell that) paint scheme, and that the entire team had matching everything. harvick normally has silver and black for gm goodwrech, but he had the orange and yellow of recees. the team had the firesuits and everything allmatching and the hats too, ive seen this a couple of times but at least when his team works on the car it looks right. now why cant baseball do the same thing for its uniforms, they got to be cheaper than the firesuits the nascar guys wear does anybody know why they go through this much trouble for a race?
Harvick was running a special Reese’s paint scheme tonight. That happens a couple of times a year with most big name teams. Usually it’s a smaller sponsor who buys the right to paint the whole car for one race. If the sponsor has the cash, they wear the sponsor’s color on the pit unis too. It’s just a money thing, plain and simple. For $15 million a year you can have YOUR name on the hood of a car and all over the pit unis!
Some bad logo creep today in the ESPN High School football broadcast. The their were six Byrnes (SC) fans that each had a respective letter on their chest. Blue paint base with red letter w/ white outline on top. A nice gesture. Except for the Nike swoosh that each of them painted on the upper left chest…yikes.
What exactly is going on with the gay pride uniform the other team is wearing?
Forget about the uniforms…. what is going on with that BALL?
Taken from the late 70s-early 80s Major Indoor Soccer League, which played with an orange ball. Since teams were playing on hockey rinks with white boards surrounding the field, they thought an orange ball would help fans see it better (plus, it was the late 70s-early 80s). You’ll see a yellow or orange ball outdoors a lot when a game is in the snow, or during months without much daylight. The EPL uses a yellow ball in Dec, Jan and Feb.
Guessing from the link name, the opponent in the blue was the Kansas City Comets. That diagonal tail thingie is supposed to be a comet’s tail, I guess.
For xmas one year I got the Blue Force jersey, which was much more understated than the yellow. I have to admit though, I like the yellow Force kits. I think the bigger embarassment was the guy in the Darth Vader costume that had an adding machine on his chest to mimic DVs control panel.

First, that wasnt a few years ago that was like 30 years ago when all the teams used to wear blue powder uniforms. The uniform was supposed to be completely blue with white pinstripes
Great to see some Cleveland Force talk on here…I love those yellow jerseys. I thought it was pretty sweet a few years ago when the Crunch went back to the old Force nickname/colors…not that I ever watch indoor soccer now. I did when I was a kid, though…(in the 80’s)

Something about that red and white looks cheaper than the colors they’ve used in the past. Maybe it’s the material. Maybe it’s the big white box logo.
Or maybe it’s Malcolm Glazer.
